If you don't think that there's been a concerted effort to remove critical thought from public education over the last few decades, you haven't been paying attention.

If women submitting to men was a natural way of being, they would not have needed laws, religion & violence to get them to do it.
If youβre not white, or you have friends or loved ones who arenβt white, or youβre not a total sociopath and therefore care about fellow humans who arenβt white, you need to understand this regime thinks not being white is inherently suspect, and lots of your fellow Americans are fine with that.
Itβs always βLadies, if you are alienated by overwork, drop out of the public sphere and become a tradwifeβ and never βLadies, if you are alienated by overwork, form a union.β

1977: why would the bartender in star wars even care if some robots with artificial intelligence came into his bar
2025: ohhh ok
I have gone out of my way to make sure my 3yo doesn't know that I don't like spiders. I relocate them and talk about how curious jumping spiders are.
Based on how utterly delighted she was to have a wee jumper *on her face* the other day, I think I've succeeded.
But between us: EWWW GROSS OMG WTF.
I'm not gonna lie, y'all: even nearly a decade into this, it still feels surreal that a sitting POTUS can do one long, bizarre stream-of-consciousness ramble about whatever silly shit happens to pop into his head on national television, and political media still shrug their shoulders + write it up.
Your Prime Day reminder that half of Amazon warehouse workers struggle with food & housing costs.
A third have had to rely on government assistance like SNAP β which is about to get cut.
If Bezos can spend $50M on a wedding, Amazon can afford to treat its workers with dignity.
And Tiny Tim.
I was disappointed that they let Trump leave. Saves a round-trip just to get back there...
@mayorofchicago.bsky.social I think I speak for all of the commuting public of Chicago when I say PLEASE CAN WE NEVER HOST NASCAR EVER AGAIN?
What a mess. No need to continue Lightfoot's parting "gift" to the city. It's not actually for us.
You know what works better than thoughts and prayers? A functioning government.
Politics in the US today is about as morally simple as it has ever been. The only relevant question is βDo you support totally eviscerating the already threadbare US social safety net to fund a system of concentration camps for immigrants and people of color, or do you not support that?β
Indiana Jones and the Student Who Actually Read the Syllabus
I was grateful that I leased the Leaf because it meant that they had to take the damn thing back at some point.
It was also the strong recommendation of the salesman, but he lied through his teeth about features that straight-up did not exist (most memorably, a spare tire) so who knows.
I have, and the idea of a Suburban on those roads is straight-up hilarious.
And faster! The one thing I adored about my Leaf was absolutely *destroying* muscle cars at stoplights.
Just something immensely satisfying about someone's customized Corvette being left in the dust by a baby blue hatchback.
One guy made sure he beat us out of everything for the next four miles.
It's a fantastic car!! Congratulations!
I got burned by a 2013 Nissan Leaf (I bought my first gas-only car six months later...it was THAT bad) and wrote off EVs for about a decade.
I've had my Ioniq 5 for a few years and it's such a dream that I can't see myself even going hybrid again.
AOC: "On this point of tax on tips, as one of the only people in this body who has lived off of tips, I want to tell you a little bit about the scam ... the cap on that is $25,000 while you're jacking up taxes on people who make less than $50,000 across the US ... while kicking them off the ACA."
I use 'em all the time and you can pry them from my cold dead keyboard
If it took 8 days to build a massive concentration camp in Florida then it means they could build and house the homeless at any point but choose not to
They also asked, every single time, at least two questions that would have helped me in a DV situation.
That's one fewer safe place for women who need them.
I live in a time where I am simply supposed to accept that this sentence exists
Amplifying.
As a white lady, the only thing I can add is: Damn, you miss out on some great food with that attitude. And more importantly: great conversations with great people while eating said great food.
I'm comfortable assuming that Medieval Times is the closest Brandon here has come. Pity.
Oh, sure. To be clear, trans folks don't need to make my or anyone else's world better in order to be afforded the same human rights and dignity that everyone should be afforded. It's not a means test. You're supposed to have rights as a baseline. That my world is better with them in it is a bonus.
I will never NOT find it funny that they led us to one of our favorite book series.
Which they had banned.
Because the idea of a male bear raising four goslings he intended to eat posed an existential threat to the American family.
...yup.
