I haven't used it in a couple of years, but it defaults to the spacebar and can be used with any computer keyboard (e.g., built-in keyboard on a laptop, wired keyboard for a desktop).
I haven't ever tried using a wireless or non-standard computer keyboard or changing which key you hit.
