Though it had problems, TLJ was under-appreciated on many levels, including the desire to make the Force not just about the Skywalkers. People seemed to rage against this, but it had always been part of Lucas' lore merely by virtue of there having had been so many Jedi prior to The Great Jedi Purge.
Not that this is low budget filmmaking, but…

Got to see Hard Boiled in a theater! Still a fantastic action film 30+ years later. The remaster made it clear enough to really see the over-performing death acting, which was both hilarious and fun. The post-film interview with Woo was amusing and insightful.

I with almost all you've said in this thread, but this part feels incomplete. Following such in an ethics effort we end up with the disintegrating existence and self-inflicted doom of humankind a la Pluribus. There must be a spectrum here: a semblance of sentience vs qualified full sentience.
Seems fairly reflective of reality.
There is not a doubt in my mind that this scene was written in reaction to the American experience under Trump. The Death of Truth was where we all watched our grip of the American Dream disintegrate.
