It's not a game I want to play all the time, but in a hobby filled with a ton of mediocre games that all do the same (๐), Curious Cargo offers a breath of fresh air. A unique little game that you should try!

Played another game of Curious Cargo! Still a very underappreciated gem imo. Perhaps the complexity to depth ratio is a bit off (it has a lot of small rules that are easy to forget and the scoring is super weird ๐ ) and maybe that's the reason it never became popular? ๐คท๐ป

I get what you're saying and I know it's just marketing fluff, but I like that they are saying: "hey, we're not for everyone".
In a world where a lot of publishers try to make board games that cater to as many people as possible to up their sales, I think the other approach is very refreshing.
Ticks all the right boxes ๐

Yeah, one of the cool things about Azul is the simplicity, coupled with some great player interaction. By adding more stuff, they kinda diluted the experience of the original ๐คท๐ป
...and if you don't mind worse components than the original ๐ #paperthinplaymats #boardgames
If you really need ANOTHER variation on Azul, you don't mind it being less clean and with more options for the sake of more options and if you don't mind buying an Azul game that ONLY plays two, even if the original worked perfectly at that player count, then Azul Duel might work for you #boardgames
Yes, that sounds absolutely fantastic Jaysen. But let me ask you: How many games for, and about, book lovers exist and how many have you tried? ๐

Escape the Dark Castle / Sector benefitted from their rather generic fantasy/sci-fi setting as they could draw on so many different sources to create different challenges for the players
I'm not sure the Escape the Dark series needed a big box format with more complex gameplay and in a much narrower setting like The Last of Us. As other people have said, the lack of content in the box really hurts the replay value of the game ๐ค

We should have it at Papas. But I kinda feel like its to late now ๐
"The whole purpose of reviewing is to stop people from buying things, rather than encourage people to buy things. The marketing dickheads do the encouragement, the reviewers should promote restraint"

It's "fine" ๐
It's not.
And about time Faraway arrived. Dont know why it has taken so long, it's basically an old game now ๐

New games for the cafรฉ that need to be tested before they go on the shelves. I've mostly heard bad things about The Last of Us though ๐ . Faraway and Flip 7 are no brainers I think ๐
Let me know what you think!
But it IS pretty. But it's a kickstarter so nothing new here ๐คท๐ป
Worse. I think? I've never finished a game of Flamecraft ๐ but the game works right? It's pointless, but it works? I'm not sure the same can be said about Keep the Heroes Out ๐ซฃ
Also: Don't include deck building as a main mechanism in your game, if it does not provide players with interesting decisions. In my second game (yes we played twice) I played as the dragon and bought three cards during the entire game. Yes, we still won
Wow! Possibly one of the biggest disapointments of 2024!
Keep the Heroes Out is extremely basic, samey and with a very shallow decision space. The perfect example of form over function. ๐

Me too! But I think it's mostly because I suck at trick taking, that I prefer the coop ones ๐ค
I've only heard good things about the lotr trick taker ๐
The new lotr one? If coop is ok?
