As I do my syllabi for my classes, I’m feeling grateful for all the journalists and journalism scholars being willing to zoom in to talk to my students. Remember that this year as we go into darkness, we can be there for each other.

Prepping to write a 2025 journalism prediction for Nieman Reports but my mind is only going to dark places for this profession I love. Typically I am all upbeat and optimistic for these. Please send photos of puppies and rainbows and sunshine so I can trick my mind to find my mojo again. Sigh.

I've officially switched to DuckDuckGo as my default search engine. It's not a privacy thing, though that's probably an added bonus. It's just a better search engine. That wasn't true when I tried five years ago, but it has gotten better and Google has gotten much worse in the intervening years
