The president of the board told me they were not wasting time. I reminded him that deck repair/replacement has been discussed for years at this point. Supposedly he’s getting quotes this week and they’ll make announcements soon. Supposedly.

And yes, I know HOAs are the worst. I knew what I was getting into when I bought my home. I also knew it fit my budget and I didn’t want to deal with outdoor maintenance, lawn care, or snow removal.

I’m not fine with them dragging their feet on making decisions while costs increase. This isn’t going to get any cheaper. Just rip the damn band-aid off already.

I would be paying for the new deck myself. I’m fine with that - it is my space and I should pay for it. The board wants to use one contractor to redo all of the decks. I’m also fine with that as it makes sense to have all the decks look the same.

Last night I told my HOA board if I have to ask about this again it will be through an attorney because I’m tired of them wasting my time.

If Calvin and Hobbes taught me anything, it’s that a box with an open top is a time machine.
