Miles chuckled and pressed one more kiss to their head.

"Wouldn't want my sweet darling to be uncomfortable. Now, shall we head inside? Or do you want to spend more time out here?"

Miles closed his eyes as his racing heart calmed down. He hummed at every kiss on his neck and tilted his head back for Phoenix.

"I love you too. More than anything. You are my everything."

Miles held Simeon's hands and helped him to his feet. Then he pulled them into his arms and kissed the top of their head.

"Hopefully you can get used to it again."

Miles watched Phoenix walk away for a moment. Then he took his shoes off and hurried up the stairs after Phoenix. He changed out of his work clothes into something a bit more ✨comfortable ✨, then waited for him on the bed.

Then Uncle Miles I shall remain.

I don't mind either way. Whatever is more comfortable for you.

Well, he came to my office with a beautiful bouquet of flowers. Then he had me drive us to the old park we used to spend time in as children. Then he proposed under an old tree at that park, it has a lot of meaning to us. Then we went out for dinner. It still feels a bit unreal to me.

I am very well, thank you. Did your Father tell you that we're engaged?

Pess closed her eyes while she received her scritches.

"It was indeed. And I hope you had a lovely nap."

Miles stared at Phoenix with a slightly dazed look in his eye. He nodded, then tossed his coat in the vague direction of the closet.

"Yes. Yes, of course. I'll be right up."

Hello, dearheart. How are you?

"We did, yes. Pess got to see her little girlfriend again. And we walked past a group of children, so of course we had to say hello."

Pess wagged her tail and nosed Simeon's hand.

Miles was in the middle of removing his coat before Phoenix pulled him in for a kiss. He stumbled back a step until his back was against the door, them returned the kiss with just as much passion.

Miles took a step back.

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to startle you."

He gently settled his hand on their shoulder.

"Are you alright?"

"*God* I didn't even think of that. Finally I'll be left alone."

He soon pulled into their driveway and got out of the car. He walked around to take Phoenix's hand before walking them inside.

Miles returned an hour later. Pess wandered over to sniff Simeon's hand while Miles gently shook their shoulder.

"My love. We're back."

"I can hardly believe it myself. It feels surreal, seeing the ring on my hand. But at the same time. . . it's as if it belongs there."

He gently ran his thumb over the band.

"I hope you know I'm only taking this off to sleep and shower. A paramedic is going to have to pry this off me."

"Alright, sounds good to me."

He gently shifted Simeon out of the way and stood up. He stretched, then went to the front door. He got Pess's vest and leash on, then put on his coat and shoes.

"We won't be long."

With that, they left.

Miles caught Phoenix looking at him. He couldn't help but smile.

"What? What is it?"

Pess sniffed the ankle monitor. Miles chuckled.

"Not quite, but we still don't want to push our luck. You can sit on the front porch, if you'd like. Or take a nap."

He ran a hand through their hair.

"It's entirely up to you."

May I join~?

Miles chuckled as he started the car.

"I believe Trucy is with Pearls this evening. You may do whatever you like once we're home~"

He pulled out of the parking space and began the drive home. He hummed to himself along the way.

"Well. . ."

Miles checked his watch.

"I would too, but Pess wouldn't appreciate missing her afternoon walk."

Pess poked her head around the corner. Miles chuckled.

"Oh, did I say your favorite word?"

It must be this weather. Would you like to borrow my coat?

"Why all the way up there when I'm already down here~?"

Miles kissed Phoenix's cheek and opens the passenger door for him.

"After you~"

God, what a pathetic parasite he is. . . I'm so glad Phoenix doesn't have to deal with him anymore.

"You certainly don't act like it."

"What an irritating nuisance. Shouldn't you be in school?"

Miles looked down at them after a bit.

"Comfortable?"

Miles held Phoenix's hand as they walked. He realized Phoenix was going to crash into the post and gasped.

"Phoenix!"

He grabbed onto him and pulled Phoenix away.

"You clumsy man."
