Unlocking enlargement and building common defence: next steps for the European Union Our proposals include revising the Copenhagen criteria, streamlining the formal accession process, creating a new category of EU accession state, drafting an intergovernmental defence treaty and establishing a European Security Council.

The EU's future depends on it being larger and better defended than it is now. Here I propose revising the Copenhagen criteria, streamlining the enlargement process, and creating a new category of accession state. 1/2 www.epc.eu/publication/...

πŸŸ‘πŸ”΅ Ukraine’s accession and European defence are one strategy β€” the EU’s defining test.

If Starmer ignored the law, right wing crowd would be baying he’s a warmonger. If he meekly followed Trump into a war which turned out badly, they’d be decrying him as another Blairite poodle of the US. They’ll never give him a fair shake, and in this case, he’s absolutely right to be cautious.

Lib Dem policymaking on the economy is such a bad state, I think because of the combination of β€œEd Davey runs a v closed inner circle”, β€œin addition, Ed Davey is the party’s most established economist and therefore actually new thinking just doesn’t happen”.
