After dabbling with my RTS game again, I've realised that I would like to really get it done because people get genuinely excited over it. If I could secure a few months dev time I think I could start pitching it for (crowd) funding.

I have a tight criteria for the subjective use of the term "good". π
Probably hundreds! π¬ Most publishers are, hence the bad ones playing the string-along game to a lot of desperate indies trying to get signed.
It pains me that the pitches and games I put together for other people always got funded by UKGF and the pitches I made for my own projects were rejected. π
Anyone know of any funding opportunities going for game prototypes/Microbusinesses etc in the UK?

Went on Linkedin again to see if there's any interesting freelance kicking about and.. the bloodbath continues. Feels like the UK games industry is shedding about 500 jobs a week.
If this were factories or manufacturing closing it would be front page news.
planet of the bass parody of europop meme song young white man with shiny goggles red dyed medium length hair and black sleeveless vest singing intensely women are my favorite guy.

I saw a post the other day where a guy had used a monitor arm to clamp to his bedframe for his gross gaming set up. Kinda wish I'd thought of that last time I was sick.
I finished up more base defence stuff tonight, so tomorrow I can turn on the A.I player's attack code and then we are not far off having most of the core skirmish gameplay loop locked in.
Paying nearly Β£2000 a year to Unity for them to pull crap like this.
Not a day goes by where I don't think of this conversation from Deus Ex
Me in my weird hood with ears and fangs in.
So we had a cool, very alternative, gig in Oxford tonight.. But then I missed my bus and went to a normie bar for a quick half dressed in my handmade #goth #techwear and.. people were properly terrified of me?? π
RTS update: A few more placeholder assets in today along with a lot of fixes for core systems and computer-player base building. It's starting to come together.
Now if anyone has a spare Β£100k down the back of the sofa, let me know so I can make this full time.

A C&C style construction building.
Upgraded to 5.0.1 and there are less bugs! Modelled a very quick placeholder, but not sure I really have the time to completely re-skill up to a production ready level. Might just have to take the hit on a Β£300 Maya Indie subscription or install my old 2014 license off DVD!
Seems a build from 2023. I'll try Blender 5 and see how it goes!
Seems it was bugged. π₯²
Now my transform widgets have disappeared and won't come back again. π
I really wanted to give Blender a proper try again, but after jumping right in I needed to know a short cut key for something.
So I googled it and the first result was a Reddit post of a user being a condescending prick to someone asking the same question.
War never changes.
My biggest ever tweet was one suggesting we crowd fund the replacement of a certain character with Jar-Jar Binks. Months of death threats. π₯°
I mean MS have such consistently poor leadership that it's borderline plausible. I can't blame anyone too hard for falling for it.
Indeed the PCWorld article it's quoting is entirely speculative and has a few suspicious emdashes, so if you hate AI slop, maybe stop sharing low quality rumour content?
Yooo that tech4gamers "Windows 12" article everyone is sharing is completely made-up fluff. I hate Microslop more than anyone but it's a complete fiction.
It's based on a bunch of leaked speculative strategy docs from 3-4 years ago, completely misunderstood and headlined to make you rage-share it.
Luckily in the first case a family member could drive out with a battery starter and the second I found someone with starter leads.
I've picked up a high amp battery starter myself now so (along with my air compressor and tool kit) can deal with most breakdowns myself.
So, I didn't think it newsworthy, but the RAC did this to me too. Twice!
Had the newborn in the car, in literally freezing temps, and both times they quoted 6+ hours.
Needless to say I recommend never going with the RAC for breakdown cover.

Your sleep paralysis demon is probably just the resurfacing of a deep, decayed, memory of an extremely tired parent standing over your cot silently pleading for you to go back to sleep.
Throwing basically every technique I can at it. At the art stage a lot of hand editing and procedural systems doing erosion etc to simulate the sand flows. Then some really chonky heavily layered materials blended onto the tessellated terrain.
A desert scene with rocky outcrops.
I made the pipeline for building the terrain for my RTS years ago now, but I still love how good it looks even in an editor window and how quickly I can build new maps.
