As Ireland is also neutral should it not also close its airspace to US military flights directly linked to the Iran way?

They get high on it; death, destruction, the feeling of power and dominance gives them a kick.
They care not one jot for the lives of 'others', or their own service members.
US was known around the world as the land of the free, where liberty, freedom and democracy was a beacon for others.
No longer

As a result of sanctions, Iran was forced to become self-sufficient especially in the area of medicine. Over the last 2 weeks, Israel/US has targeted this self-sufficiency by destroying pharmaceutical factories and warehouses.

โ€˜Drinking from a fetid pondโ€™: superbug-creating genes found in UKโ€™s largest lake Exclusive: Lough Neagh, which supplies drinking water for 40% of NI, contains genes resistant to last-resort antibiotics

Superbugs resistant to antibiotics are rising fast. I tested water at Lough Neagh (40% of Northern Irelandโ€™s drinking water) & found high levels of antibiotic-resistant genes from human & livestock poo. If we treat waterways like sewers, this is what we get. www.theguardian.com/environment/...

Our regional partner, we help defend, conduct/share intelligence, supply arms.

Israel killing entire families, again, seemingly same is happening in Iran.
Wouldnโ€™t be surprising if US regime is doing the same, to kill an individual. Military, political, scientists, academics all targets.

Ella Baron is easily the sharpest of the Guardianโ€™s new stable of cartoonists. The lower panel of this - channeling one of the most famous images of the Vietnam War - stands on its own.

As the military conflict between the U.S., Israel and Iran continues, Turkish elites have reportedly begun circulating claims that Israel could turn its military attention toward Ankara should Iran emerge from the war depleted โ€” a belief analysts say reflects growing mistrust and conspiratorial thinking in Turkey rather than any actual Israeli intent.

โ€œI have started hearing from inside of Turkey suggesting that thereโ€™s a not unsizable position of governing elite circles which do believe that Israel will turn its attention next onto Turkey, militarily or some derivative thereof, after its finished with Iran,โ€ Sinan Ciddi, director of the Turkey program at the Foundation for Defense of Democracies, said during a livestreamed webinar on Thursday.

Steven Cook, a senior fellow at the Council on Foreign Relations, called Turkeyโ€™s perception of Israelโ€™s intentions as โ€œridiculous.โ€

The likely next PM of Israel, Naftali Bennett, said that Israel must not "turn a blind eye" to Turkey and that "We [Israel] must act in different ways, but simultaneously against the threat from Tehran and against the hostility from Ankara.โ€.

Why is it then conspiratorial for Turkey to think this?

Seemingly there's now 18 US heavy bombers at RAF Fairford. 12 B1s and 6 B52s.
Each one can carry 24 2000-pound bombs. That's a lot of 'defensive' capability. Wonder what's been bombed..target list agreed with UK govt?

UK involvement deepens in this Israeli/US war, without parliament's approval.

Hannah Spencer MP in her maiden speech in Parliament:

"Our struggles may be different, but our humanity is the same. We always stick together, we always fight for each other.

"And that is what I want us to take forward from International Women's Day and to do that every single day."

Pot of Irish stew simmering on the hob.

Pot of Irish stew simmering on the hob.

Hmmm...the Irish stew is shaping up nicely. Will thicken more before dinner. I'm getting hungry now.
Made home grown onions(sturon), spuds(cara) but alas, shop bought carrots. A dose of barley in there as well.

Irish coins of different sizes, showing a horse, salmon, bull, hare, hound, hen, pig and woodcock

In 1926, as a member of the Irish Senate, W.B. Yeats enthusiastically took charge of the committee designing new coinage for the Irish Free State. Yeats decided the different denominations should be symbolised by different animals (was he consciously thinking of this as the โ€œtailsโ€ side?) 1/2

As it's a very wet dismal day, and in lieu of the usual lunchtime doggy walk, I think tis a day to make Irish stew. Then let it slowly percolate till dinner time.
Might add barley this time..forgive me mammy.

Israelโ€™s renewed war on Lebanon is about more than just Hezbollah After violating the โ€˜ceasefireโ€™ 10,000 times, Israel is once again pounding Lebanon as its enduring thirst for war drives ever expanding ambitions.

I agree with @ayoub.bsky.social that โ€œIsraelโ€™s territorial ambitions and drive for total domination far outweigh any commitment to long-term regional stability.โ€

any analysis of Israel and Lebanon that does not include the stated desire by multiple Israeli politicians - over many years - to destroy Lebanon itself is either not paying attention, in denial or actively deceiving people

There a significant amount of European naval and air assets deployed in the Eastern Mediterranean. Greek, Dutch, Italian, French and ofc British.
To protect Cyprus ...really it's to protect Israel & US bases.
Yet they cannot directly say..'regional partners'.
Why protect Israel? Who started this?

BBC News reporting on Israel/Us Iran war is so poor. Biased for sure, to the point it doesnโ€™t really inform or explore the broader picture. Nor does it cover the human misery being inflicted upon Iran or Lebanon.

They just changed the law to massively favour institutional landlords over tenants. Their plan on housing delivery is to get foreign money to deliver overpriced build-to-rents. They want to turn the Irish population into a cash machine for foreign investors. Itโ€™s outrageous.

Listened to the first podcast which I found very informative on Iran and its diverse political situation. These guys eloquently, yet simply, cover Iran and Israel/US attacks. Looking forward to hearing their views and being informed.
Thanks for sharing.

Image is a screenshot of a reasoned amendment to the Courts and Tribunals Bill. It is signed by Siรขn Berry, Hannah Spencer, Carla Denyer, Dr Ellie Chowns and Adrian Ramsay.

It reads: That this House declines to give a Second Reading to the Courts and Tribunals Bill because it is an inadequate and dangerous response to the challenges faced by the courts; it does not provide the correct solutions to the chronic backlog of cases in the Crown Court; it would not address the long-term underfunding that has led to the degradation of court systems, infrastructure and buildings; it would limit the crucial civil liberty and constitutional protection of trial by a jury of oneโ€™s own peers by removing defendantsโ€™ right to elect the Crown Court for all triable either-way offences; this change would cover a range of protest-related offences, and because protest rights and free speech, which act as safeguards against authoritarianism, have already been eroded by this Government and should not be limited further; jury trials build public trust and confidence in the courts and act as a space of shared civic responsibility that builds social cohesion; more effective interventions could be implemented that do not roll back fundamental rights, including expanding the use of โ€˜blitz courtsโ€™, increasing the number of sitting days, removing from the system cases that are no longer in the public interest to prosecute, increasing investment in legal aid, improving court case management technology, and bringing in more efficient processes to ensure defendants are brought to court and to the dock on time; and removing rights to judgment by oneโ€™s own peers may have the unintended consequence of increasing court backlogs through a rise in appeals.

๐ŸšจWe have tabled an amendment to reject the Governmentโ€™s sinister attempt to remove jury trials including for many protest related offences.

Our civil liberties have already been eroded by this Govt and should not be limited any further.

Just finished Drop of Corruption by Robert Jackson Bennett. A thoroughly enjoyable, easy to read book, If youโ€™re into fantasy mystery, or even if youโ€™re not, worth giving this a go.

Onto Project Hail Mary, as recommended by the son. Apparently the audiobook is excellent.
