They've gotten cheaper and are continuing to, though the tech isn't recent at all, and living in a stone house doesn't make that true either, they also said their house was very insulated anyway.
Here's someone with one in a solid stone house, with it operating around 400% efficiency.
Old stone houses need to breathe. As far as I know heat pumps don't like draughts. I'm happy to be convinced I'm wrong. I suspect a bit of me prefers more 'off grid' options, what with power cuts etc. I'd not like to rely on any one source of power.
I still use heating oil! I live in a v old property which as far as I can see won't suit a heat pump. We also get frequent power cuts. We are v insulated, also have solar thermal and wood burning stove, so don't use much oil. But I really feel for people in old rural houses unable to change.

We buy oil very rarely, maybe every couple of years. So of course now we are running low! Seem to remember same happened after COVID spike. Grrr.

I was at a girls school, with female people teachers, who probably weren't actually that horrid. I still hated it, being short, round and not a great runner. Absolute rubbish 'it's not the winning but the taking part'. Now I'm a happy swimmer and walker. Solo.
I didn't 'play' it, but was sadly on the pitch as games were taking place, I was mainly as far away from the hard ball and the big bashing wooden sticks as I could get. Ghastly.
