Big agree. Crockett and Warnock have spoken about Christian values in terms that are more aligned with most liberal Christian’s beliefs. For me, a liberal atheist, it’s nice to see a white Christian cis man expressing a philosophy that ISN’T rooted in racism, misogyny, and corruption.

The movement was a controlled action but hurting someone while doing so was the accidental part and the human in the chair would normally offer an apology, not expect everyone around them to make excuses or get mad that the other person was injured.
It doesn’t cost him anything but pride to apologize and I don’t understand why YOU feel the need to make excuses for him. Real harm was done and most humans, regardless of ability, understand harm and have the instinct to apologize. Excusing him and expecting less actually seems more ableist to me.
In fact, it read more like an acceptance speech than an apology until he mentioned leaving to avoid distressing the audience. But no “I apologize for…” or an “I’m sorry to…” I have known SO MANY neurodivergent and disabled people and a few were assholes. I’m not saying HE is but it’s a possibility.
I reread it 2x and unless you read something different, he thanked the BAFTAs for making it so he could attend and talked about his life’s work. Nowhere did he address Lindo, Jordan, or Black viewers.That’s where I would have started but he didn’t mention them anywhere in that big, prepared apology.
I’m not sure because his apology wasn’t to the people he actually harmed and there’s more scrutiny on their reactions. I have an adult son w/ autism and TS so I’m very sympathetic but I also hold myself accountable if he does something inappropriate. That’s also why that word isn’t in his vocabulary
I’m pretty sure that if he accidentally ran over someone’s foot he would say sorry, not expect everyone to apologize to him about the wheelchair or get mad at the other guy for having a hurt foot.
I have avoided seeing the video but I read somewhere that a remark about Palestine was edited from the broadcast so this could have been edited out too, to avoid compounding the damage by harming TV viewers.

I based it off the most recent interview I could find with the daughter and her own explanation as to why she is no longer speaking to her mother. How is that superimposing a narrative? If both are sharing different information now, I look forward to seeing it and would be glad if it wasn’t true.
Umm… She accused her daughter of making a spectacle of herself when she tried to discuss her own abuse and said NOTHING to support her daughter in court. She should have spoken more and stood by her daughter. It seems like she didn’t want the attention on anyone else and that is deeply disturbing.
Victims can be also abusers. It appears she’s traumatized her daughter as badly as the father. Possibly because she didn’t have the capacity to cope with another person’s trauma or she felt responsible but MOST mothers wouldn’t 🚩accuse their child of seeking attention 🚩, having that kind of proof.
