Happy St Brigid’s Day! Spring is springing…
Chepstow on a cool winter’s afternoon…. what better than a spot of Wassailing in the Community Orchard and a gathering of Mari Lwyd from far and wide.
I always stop to appreciate this pillar box in Agincourt Square, Monmouth outside the Shire Hall.
Sunrise over the Severn And the ancient standing stones on Grey Hill in beautiful Monmouthshire, a few days after the winter solstice.
Lovely blackberries picked this afternoon - juicy and luscious in spite of the drought like conditions we’ve had this year in Monmouthshire
Lovely summer in lovely Monmouthshire
Delighted to be able to offer this fabulous chap a home with us - his owner had to go into a care home. Such a kind and gentle boy - absolutely love a spaniel!
I had a great weekend at Devauden Festival, at its new location in Penallt (at Humble by Nature). It’s still such a lovely and friendly event with a chilled vibe. Made possible by 350 local volunteers and raising funds for local Monmouthshire good causes. Great stuff!
A busy morning running one of the activities at the Easter Egg hunt around Llanvaches church. Chicks or Bunnies were made and both seemed very popular 😋
Thinking of the people of Mayanmar - a special place, bright with hope when I spent a few weeks travelling along the Irrawaddy in 2017. At the time it was just emerging from the grip of ‘The Generals’. The people had hard lives, but had high hopes for a better future. The news today is so sad.
How super to see some sunshine today after a very sunless winter in the UK. And these lovelies are dancing in the breeze - snowdrops from the orchard of the family home in Monmouthshire, which had to be sold on the passing of parents. But the memories bloom on with the snowdrops…
I made a plate of Oaty deliciousness - St Brigid’s Day biscuits. 1st Feb is dedicated to this feisty Celtic saint. Yum!
Long Tailed Tits grabbing a snack ahead of the forecast snowy spell of weather…

Best photo I took in 2024…
A hover fly basking in the garden back in June
It’s been a busy day- lots of prepping done, need to get ahead! Off to the lovely St Brigid (in the middle of the field) for a family celebration service tomorrow morning. 🎄
Galavanting again! This time to the glorious Savoy Theatre in Monmouth. A very engaging evening with Aled Jones.
First post here…. Clears throat, taps microphone….
Listened to a super talk this evening by archaeologist Kate Churchill at Trellech church about an amazing community dig at Buckholt Woods. Great discoveries so far and more to come it seems.
