Itβs important that you have one friend at work that is familiar with the Key and Peele continental breakfast skit so that any time the phrase comes up at work, you can immediately send them this.
You should absolutely take time to articulate a cogent, understandable take for high schoolers as to why this is an abhorrent, anti-Christian position.
This is just a reminder that if you are a person of Christian persuasion and you think this kind of rhetoric is so ridiculous itβs not even worth addressing, I guarantee you every teenager in your student ministry knows who this guy is, has likely seen this clip, or is hearing something similar.
And it also has Famke Janssen, Chris MacDonald (aka Shooter mcgavin), Bebe Neuwirth, and Robert Patrick in it. Itβs unbelievable.
Who was the casting director for The Faculty? The fact that this movie was genuinely like the breakout movie for Jordana Brewster, Clea Duvall, Josh Hartnett, Shawn Hatosy, John Stewart (lol), Usher, and one Elijah Woodβs first adult roles is like unbelievable.
The high wouldnβt last. Seahawks safety Julian Love soon intercepted a throw from New England quarterback Drake Maye, and the Patriots never recovered. In the end, Kane lost a bit less than $100,000 in bets that favored the Patriots. βWhat are you gonna do about it? You get very numb to these kinds of numbers,β said Kane, who works out of his one-bedroom apartment in Philadelphia.
In the future we're gonna look back at online gambling and prediction markets in the same way we look now at cigarettes on airplanes and lead-based paint

No Kings includes Draft Kings
Iβve now listened to The Wager and The Zorg narrated by Dion Graham. There is nothing better than listening to this man narrative the history of ships. Every ship book should be narrated by him.
Iβm just going to keep saying how much of a problem this is.
During every movie trailer in the previews today, the couple behind me kept saying, βeew no,β and βdefinitely not,β for every movie. And it got me wondering if they understood that they we were all about to watch the new Sam Raimi movie and that perhaps they arenβt the target audience for this one.
Every day, I wake up sad that sports betting is a thing. I can hardly watch sports on television anymore knowing that every single ad is trying to exploit working class viewers during the one pass time they have.
Am I the only one that wants to throw up?
Going to go soothe my nervous system at Barnes and Noble after doing a driving lesson with my teenage daughter.
When John Mayer sang, βOne day our generation is going to rule the population,β inquiring minds want to know what Mayerβs timeframe was on that statement. Because the song is going to be 20 years old this year, and the average age of Congress is something like 58 years old.
All Iβm saying is that for all of the weird things that evangelical Protestants have critiqued over the years (Iβm thinking leggings, Game of Thrones, Harry Potter, etc), it would be super great if we could put that same energy toward critiquing sports gambling.
Middle and high school Sunday school was me just making them look at the Beatitudes for 30 minutes and make as many observations and ask as many questions as possible.
And telling them not to ask ChatGPT for the answers, which was their first impulse.
Thanks for that excellent summary!
Watching Face/Off right now.
Trying to explain to my son the chokehold that John Woo had on action movies in the late 90s and early 2000s.
Stranger Things timeβ¦see you on the other side!
Iβm thinking about watching one directorβs complete filmography in 2026. Iβm leaning toward Scorsese, but Iβm open to suggestions. Any ideas?
Trying to get my boys to take Shutter Island seriously during their first watch, but after Leo found the note that says βWho is patient 67,β they wonβt stop saying βSix sevvvvenn!β Literally of all the numbersβ¦Scorsese could never have known.
People say Iβm an over explainer. But you know, Iβm just saying that if eco-terrorists were freeing zombie chimps that rapidly infect people and they asked me what they were infected with, I would have said more than just, βRage.β 28 Days Later would never have happened on my watch.
So Iβm going to need Barnes and Noble to expand their philosophy section to more than how to be a Stoic because I personally plan on being insufferably loud and emotional for the foreseeable future.
Every time I see a Karen Hao interview Iβm both impressed by the breadth of her investigative journalism related to AI and simultaneously depressed on her behalf due to the insane number of absolutely ghoulish facts she knows about these tech companies driving the AI insanity.
Rian Johnson paints a picture of what partnership can look like when the truth seekers work together. Itβs a world where we become brave versions of ourselves and see the humanity in the other.
Wake Up Dead Man makes no judgement on the path of Judd and Blanc, and it suggests that perhaps we should look further than religious ideology for our partners in this world.
Wicks and Judd embrace the same mechanism of religious community, but for very purposes and values. Itβs this difference in value that creates such tension between the two.
Blanc and Judd, while not religiously aligned, both seek the truth. Both, in their own ways, desire for truth to be surfaced so that healing (for Judd) and winning (for Blanc), can occur. Both have a shared value of truth seeking, although their mechanism for getting there is quite different.
Blanc doesnβt believe in a higher power, and he believes in logic and reason, and yet Judd and Blanc grow to appreciate one anotherβs perspectives and it is this camaraderie and respect that leads to them solving the case. Why is this?
Where Judd sees Christianityβs non-violent expression of confession and repentance as the vehicle for change in the world, Wicks promotes a theology of scarcity, where the church must fight back against those that are taking from them.
