It is just a flipped classroom, but the fact that AI is forcing that model on us all is what is frustrating.
As pointed out by @paulakrieg.bsky.social and noted by @mpershan.bsky.social, longtime #mtbos partner and collaborator Malke Rosenfeld passed away last year. She investigated and taught the mind-body math connection, engaging hundreds of teachers and learners in #mathart - dance! RIP great friend!
The struggle of using AI to short circuit learning is very problematic. Is AI forcing us to all use essentially a flipped model so that work is all done in class? How do we get to the Halmos "Don't just read it, fight it" idea when AI can even do the reading for us? #MTBoS #ITeachMath #MathSky
I took some complex & creative math ?? I gave as hmwk last year in a college course & put them in Gemini. It solved every one of them. With explanation. My ? is, what are university math faculty doing to make learning central to class when AI can short circuit learning? #MTBoS #ITeachMath #MathSky

I bring it up repeatedly in my methods classes to show preservice teachers what students really think. They all agree with the findings. It is hard to move the needle of inservice teachers though.
Every time I see a post like this, I think of this research article with over 21,000 students. The top 3 words HS students use to describe high school are Tired, Stressed, & Bored. Of the top 10, only 2 are positive. We can and must do better. doi.org/10.1016/j.le...

One of their (preservice teachers) takeaways is that Black schools were literally closed in the South because they were outperforming White schools. Just one of the many things in the history of math ed.
I think so. There are so few copies of it in existence, but it is still technically copyrighted. I would love a chance to see something done with the amazing images though. If a printer does something w/ it, please let me know.

I have all my math students read the Critical History of Math Education by Berry. It is chap 2? in the book Brilliance of Black Children. It always shocks them.

It is called MathGraf, and the single copy my library could find that exists *only* in a library in Hong Kong. In negotiations for a scanned table of contents now.
