Adios to @porpster.bsky.social and the #AT40 crew! I leave with my own post-#AT40 cut, because it's 2026 and infuriatingly still relevant:

Inspired by an eclectic mix of music, w/many go-to genres, no preferred decade (1920s-2020s), & primary focus on music from USA, Japan, UK, Brazil, etc. Interests incl. politics, sports (NBA, WNBA, etc.), media, cinema, #AT40. Chat = OFF.

I'm not all that inspired by this 1972/03/11 #AT40's top ten, but Neil Young is the obvious exception with 'Heart Of Gold.' T-Rex at #10 also. And maybe the upcoming #1 will be, too.
Back in the day I always felt these Osmonds attempts to "go hard" were amusing, in a cringe-worthy way. ('Down By The Lazy River') #AT40
Horse with no name? I know some aren't too thrilled with the lyric, but really, do we want, "I've been through the desert with a horse named Lassie? I made a stop by a cactus so the horse could go pee?" #AT40
I have love for puppies but not for Puppy Love. #AT40
I recall listening to #AT40 (the program and the radio format) in the early 70's and wondering where the greatest hits of the era (Al Green's 'Let's Stay Together' among them) would be on music fans' radar decades later. Hoping they'd be remembered. No worries in that regard! Still fresh in 2026!
I tend to agree. What I'm recalling right now is how WTF (in a good way) I was when the group who cut 'My World,' "Lonely Days,' etc. starting coming up with cuts like 'Jive Talkin,' and onward to the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack. #AT40
One of my all-time fave lps for his ambition to not repeat himself is Sly Stone with his lp "There's A Riot Goin' On" which included this single 'Running Away.' Sadly, tomorrow is his date of birth and the first time he won't be around to celebrate. #AT40
The goosebumps are real just with the rain effects at the beginning of the Dramatics' 'In The Rain.' Let alone when they begin to sing! Whoa! Amazing! Even when I was a tween I was feeling this gem when it was a hit! #AT40
Haha, true! I'll take the Jesus Christ superstar choir (intermittently present on the soundtrack) over the English Congregation or various singing nuns who have popped up occasionally on pop radio. #AT40
What I like about these early-70s #AT40 programs is that pop radio could still stretch in intriguing ways, able to span the length of pop culture sounds from Yes to Santana, a few "legacy" artists like Elvis, & the funk greatness that is James Brown at #30 ('Talking Loud & Saying Nothing')!
iirc 1970-1972 were my peak years of listening to AM radio and #AT40, so I'm familiar with every hit thus far, The Stylistics and Santana being my faves, Sonny & Cher ... not so much. I like Elvis' voice, so I was okay with his hit but not really representative of him at his best musically. #AT40

Most California voters support the stateβs newly proposed billionaire tax, according to new polling.
Meanwhile, rich Californians are plotting a $500M slush fund to influence the state's politics.
So they can't afford a wealth tax, but they'll spend a fortune buying elections?
See the problem...
Always in the mood to hear some Ohio Players. Because of when I grew up, I didn't really get to explore the earlier Westbound label lps until later. But these Mercury label ones were date-of-release buys for me. #AT40 'Love Rollercoaster'
For anyone who hasn't heard it, here's the O'Jays 'Stairway To Heaven' (seems like there's another tune around with the same name) #AT40

'I Love Music' by The O'Jays! One of those occasional times I get the feels from a dance track! #AT40 They really had a strong run of superb albums during that era ... deep cuts as well as the classic hits!
Finish up, Anka baby (get it?) ... I want to get to the #9 hit by the goddess! #AT40
Hearing that distinctive Van McCoy production vibe on the great David Ruffin's 'Walk Away From Love.' #11 1976/01/10 #AT40
Tonight years old for me, learning as I read the #AT40 hashtag comments. #AT40
I forgot that 'Fly Away' even existed, but I agree with you even though I'm generally not a fan of him (though not a hater, either). #AT40
Paul is pro-choice #AT40
One of my faves on this #AT40 ... the Miracles with the bop 'Love Machine.' Smokey who? (just kidding, of course. Mr. Robinson had his share of solo successes). Leading into The Staple Singers in prime form with 'Let's Do It Again.'
Makes sense!
Now Casey has got my attention for a pair of gems, by The Isley Bros. ('For The Love Of You') and Harold Melvin & The Blue Notes ('Wake Up Everybody' with TP on vocals). In both cases, I'm redirecting myself to the respective albums for Parts 1 AND 2! #AT40
Stevie always rates at or near the top, and I'll submit this Ann Peebles classic for consideration to join the club #AT40

No, that's a new one to me. I might have expected a Dylan museum to be in MN (and maybe there is something like that up there), but ... good job, Tulsa! #AT40
Bob Dylan's 'Hurricane' got me cranking up the sound, much like when I first heard it when I bought the lp, probably on day-of-release. Typical of Bob, I get immersed in the tune, the vocal, and the band backing him. 1976/01/10 #AT40 There are a few minor gaps in my Dylan collection, but not many.

πΏTALKING HEADSπΈTENTATIVE DECISIONS: DEMOS & LIVE (1974-1977)
Selected cut:
'Take Me To The River' (live 1977)
Early version of the Al Green classic, sounding closer to Al's track than what it evolved to later.

πΏAL JARREAUπΈHIGH CRIME (1984)
Selected cut:
'After All'
Memorable ballad! Although the lp as a whole has a slick '80's vibe, imho it's done particularly well by Jarreau, producer Jay Graydon & the musicians!
