Hot take: knowing your Hogwarts house because you grew up with Harry Potter is not the same as supporting the author today. I can have my nostalgia and acknowledge the author and series have a LOT of issues while still knowing I'm a Hufflepuff.
Sam Nordquist didn't deserve this. Sam was reported missing on Feb. 9, 2025. Over that period of time, Sam was tortured and sexually abused repeatedly.
Five people were charged with murder. Sam was transgender. This is what hate does.
RIP Sam.ππ½ππͺ

A black and white headshot of Storme in drag king mode. Note: As a drag king Storme used male pronouns. He is dressed in a tux and has bleached blond hair. As a biracial butch dyke / drag king, Storme straddled gender and racial identities.
As it's both #LGBTHistoryMonth (UK) & #BlackHistoryMonthΒ (US) there's double cause to celebrate StormΓ© DeLarverie, the butch dyke who may well have started the Stonewall uprising.
Storme didnβt acquiesce to police arrest but fought back, reputedly crying out, "Why don't you guys do something?"

For those who claim they can "always tell", cis women who A) are over 6ft tall, B) look more like their dad, or C) happen to like short hair exist. Y'all freaked out over Bluey being a girl and Ruby wearing a dress. Y'all would be the same people calling Peggy Hill not feminine enough.
If you call the Gulf of Mexico "Gulf of America", I don't want to hear a thing about a new name and pronouns being too difficult.
On the flip side, if you actually learn people's chosen name/pronouns when presented with new information, but it's still Gulf of Mexico: we can be friends.
Dear Alabama,
My gender is come back with a warrant
Weβre grown adults! Talking about sex, enjoying sex, reading smut, watching adult content in a healthy way is NORMAL! RELAX
Currently obsessed with A Love Song for Ricki Wilde. I read Seven Days in June a couple years ago, so I was already on board for romance but maaaan I'm so curious about Ezra's backstory (I just got to chapter 13, no spoilers please) #booksky

The government may be trying to remove DEI but my home library is continuing to diversify because they're my dollars and I do what I want π
When they say they want to deport our dangerous criminals, all I hear is how they've been trying to classify queer people as "groomers" for years. You really think they're not gonna find excuses to put citizens on those planes, you're fooling yourself.
Working on diversifying my reading further. Last year I made a point of reading more queer books, this year I'm trying to sprinkle in more poetry and short stories.
I'm half convinced the outrage at DEI is displaced frustration with companies saying they're hiring and not actually hiring or letting AI screen the applicants and qualified people not being able to get through due to wording.
It's an image of the Toil and Trouble Media bookcase with a message that reads, "Always remember when someone blames DEI, they are saying only white men should be in control. Toilandtroublemedia.com"
Discrimination has never worked before, and its not working now.
I'm also excited to read Immortal, I picked it up almost as soon as I saw it in the local bookstore here! It's just sitting on my tbr right now
Facts! I'm reading Tales of the Celestial Kingdom now and it's so good!
When I say I love faerie books I mean Wicked Lovely by Melissa Marr. The Scholar and the Last Faerie Door by H.G. Parry. Emily Wilde's Encyclopedia of Faeries by Heather Fawcett. Song of the Huntress by Lucy Hounsom. I want to feel like the author did their research and didn't just go "boop, fairy"
Sometimes I wonder if the reason I so chaotically refuse to fit the gender binary is because of the level of "this is for boys, that is for girls" and it's literally deodorant
For the love of God, if I see one more ',grow your own food' hot take.
Sure, for occasional fresh herbs or a few veggies.
Nobody is growing to their entire caloric intake in an apartment or on a balcony.
first queer book of 2025: A Marvelous Light by Freya Marske #queerbooks #lgbt #booksky
Currently my drag will be what it needs to be for me to enjoy. My choice of gender expression has already been deemed a political statement and that's exhausting enough sometimes.
I have begun Drag Kings Volume 3!Even More Kings!: go.bsky.app/WcGyWw
Due to climate and population, America can't grow everything.
Due to resources, America can't make everything.
American made products tend to have imported components.
Participating in the global economy isn't just for the fun of it, it is a necessity. Tarrifs are not sustainable.
