The Times really needs to watch itself in this territory.

I think this story is a really good example for people to look at when it comes to understanding bias at NYT. It's not that the reporter, Dana Rubinstein, says anything outright false. But the framing, word choices, etc., add up to an unprofessional and biased account.

SO the NYT thought it was cool to profile the indie media project relaunching the Gourmet brand here: www.nytimes.com/2026/01/13/b...

BUT they've now FIRED @nzle.bsky.social for it.

So subscribe to Gourmet, hire Nozlee, and as ever the NYT can get in the sea.

A newspaper that shows itself willing to make things up in the service of β€œnarrative” is nothing more than birdcage liner.

The next great national news outlet may not be a printed daily newspaper out of a large city, but the path to success over any medium is easy: just don’t be bigoted liars

all due respect, I don't think you get to be an editor at the New York Times if you're capable of being ashamed of yourself

I actually own an 8GB Intel MacBook Air, and I’m too familiar with how slow it is. But this is impressive, and possibly useful, regardless of the speed shortcomings. It’s a working new computer. For $600 flat. It’ll get you by for two years without multitasking the most bloated desktop apps.

The NY tabs are back to headlines like β€œMANIAC AT LARGE” and if you grew up here in the 90s that is like comfort food for the soul. Certainly better than β€œMAYOR CAUGHT IN TURKISH BRIBERY RING”

I was one of the only one of the HS friends with a used car, btw. Which I only got after I graduated.

So, those are all rich people it seems, and so I wouldn't go down this road of "humble student driving 30-year-old pickup he got with his allowance" because you know it's unlikely

Hard to believe that we're 10+ years into this and "Trump says..." is still treated as news without the need for any additional context, such as the fact that he has a history of saying a whole lot of things, most of which don't make sense.

The New York Post loves to play dumb. Like this guy won't have his younger new wife and higher-paying job set by the end of the month.

I think most people are pretty okay if you own a house. maybe it's when you own all the houses that we start to raise some mild objections

one of the core problems with trying to predict the course of this stupid fucking war is that there's no alignment on strategy between Israel and the US, in great part because the US doesn't have a strategy in the first place, and so the various parties to the war just kinda say stuff

Dear NBA:

Allowing the Atlanta arena promotion would detract from the family-friendly nature of the league and do irreparable damage to the brand.

What cities should do:

- Double down on active transportation infrastructure and transit, not roads and highways.
- Fund e-bike rebate programs.
- Switch municipal fleets, where possible, to cargo bikes. (Parks department vehicles, for example.)
- Expand commuter tax credits to encourage cycling.

Tal, Oren, and Alon Alexander have just been found GUILTY on all counts in Manhattan in one of the largest sex trafficking cases ever brought by the Justice Department. Tal and Oren were once among the US's highest paid real estate agents. They could face decades in prison.

I'm not offended by the "in-arena promotion" at all but man that's wild that it got along this far before being nixed

Jesus went to the drycleaners and said "hey I've got a stain on this robe, can you help me get it out?" The cleaner said "Hey man, I get it. It's just you and twelve dudes and you're all chaste. Gotta take care of business sometime" and Jesus replies, "Cmon man. It's wine."

The gutting of NASA Goddard has had a devastating effect on high energy astrophysics. The AXIS probe mission proposal was rejected without review. (The Goddard X-ray mirror lab was significantly impacted by shutdowns and pressured retirements, against the congress approved budget for NASA.)
