Yep. The *hope* is that there aren't really viable replacements for U.S. Treasuries—mostly due to their sheer size in the global market—but the decoupling of the dollar and Treasury yields itself shows that Trump has single-handedly generated an aversion to U.S. assets.
of course it's desirable to be self-sufficient but it's not practicable. To grow oranges and bananas here is extravagantly wasteful of energy and water. It's better (and far better for the climate) to grow what is natural to a country and export the surplus and buy in what is expensive to grow here.
