A black-and-white photograph of Yannick Mellier, taken in 2009 by Jean Mouette, on the occasion of his CNRS silver medal award.
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our colleague Yannick Mellier. Yannick was an eminent astronomer, an international figure in modern cosmology, founder and director of TERAPIX from 1997 to 2011, and Consortium Lead of the Euclid space mission since 2011.

A nicely timed meeting of the Astroparticle Physics European Consortium (APPEC) General Assembly in Stockholm during the Nobel Prizel week. Enjoyed the art installations and listened to the Nobel lecturs on Physics (incl. Michel Devoret who is well known at my institute at CEA Paris-Saclay). ππ§ͺβοΈ
We've just released a massive update to Astro-COLIBRI! πβοΈπ§ͺβοΈ
Version 2.25.0 features a completely redesigned mobile experience (yes, you can finally swipe between screens!) and adds powerful new data sources like the RAPAS network and LAST Observatory.

Today, the international LIGO-Virgo-KAGRA Collaboration celebrates the successful completion of its 4th observing run (O4), marking another major step forward in the exploration of the gravitational wave universe. The run relied on coordinated observations and analyses by teams across the world. π§ͺπ
"Prohibited activities would include joint research, co-authorship & advising a foreign graduate student or postdoc. The language is retroactive, meaning any interactions during the previous 5 years could make a scientist ineligible for future federal funding."
Dictators despise science.
After a bruising 42-day shutdown, the government has finally reopened. We took a look at what's next for federal scienceβhow quickly things will get back up to speed and whether there will be long-term consequences.

Surprising news from the GW observatories LIGO, Virgo, and KAGRA just published via an update of their observing plans: they'll still shut-down on November 18, 2025 as announced earlier but now plan for an additional 6 month of science run next year. βοΈππ§ͺβοΈ

There are no access restrictions to the Virtual Access platform. Please note, however, that responses will be provided on a best-effort basis, typically within a few days to one week, depending on expert availability.
Further details can be found on the ACME website: www.acme-astro.eu
Users are invited to register on the platform and submit a request via the ticketing system in the relevant domain. Each inquiry will be addressed by one or more experts from the respective Centre, who may respond directly within the ticket or propose a follow-up via phone or video call.
ACME supports the scientific community by providing access to expert guidance in these areas:
- Multi-messenger (MM) observatories, and advanced data analysis and tools
- End-to-end support for MWL and MM observations of transient sources
- Theoretical expertise and tools to help interpret data
We are pleased to announce that the Astrophysics Centre for Multimessenger Studies in Europe (ACME) EU-funded project has officially launched its online platform for virtual access to multi-messenger expertise. ππ§ͺβοΈβοΈ
