A better line would be "Labour are willing to put nature on our money, but they won't put our money on nature. The UK is missing 19 of 23 globally agreed targets for nature restoration. Nature needs more than symbolic gestures."

very, mind-blowing bad, and possibly the future given this Labour government is determined to run us into the ground:
if you're not REFable, you're precariously employed by a firm that subcontracts your teaching to the university.
Save the Ultimate Picture Palace
The future of Oxford's much loved independent cinema, the UPP, is at great risk. Our landlord, Oriel College won't commit to a new lease because our building is in the footprint of their plans for a 'Fifth Quad'

π¨ WATCH: Labour MP Charlotte Nichols reveals she was raped as an MP as she opposes the jury trial reforms
"I waited 1,088 days to go to court. We've been told [by the Government] that if we have concerns about this Bill, it's because we've not been raped"
Not surprised, but of course all routes have Timing Points, stops where, if the bus has gone faster than expected & ahead of schedule, it waits until back to timetable.
Made worse by the after-the-event claims that consumers are "choosing" these outcomes.
I'd be interested in seeing their data..
I presume they have the data to back this claim up...
The rate determining step in bus flows across Oxford most certainly *not* the proportion of 20 Vs 30 mph road sections.
Surely the council is aware of this, data is available.
The best way to end the affordability fallout from this war is to end the war.
I'd be delighted if drivers went past our bins within the 30 limit..
How about no? How about drive less? How about stop building towns and cities that force driving? How about we stop subsidising drivers to the tune of Β£4 to every Β£1 of tax they pay?
To complete the 'time is a flat circle' discussion we're having rn about this being nearly 6 years to the day where Trump started bullshitting us about how bad covid was, the likelihood that we get some form of "like a miracle, it will go away" about high gas prices from him today is pretty high
Just no...
A reminder that humans in cars - notably omitted from this thanks to motonormativity - kill 1.2m people every year
It *really* frustrates me when you look just over the channel at what they are achieving in the Netherlands (similar population density) & other places. Utter policy failure to handover & limit our active travel infrastructure to the profit motives & whims of private developers.
Absolute tosh.
All new developments need sage, segregated walking and wheeling routes.
Developers should provide no less!

Blowing up an oil facility next to a city of 8 million people is essentially the same as deliberately targeting civilians with chemical weaponry
I wish we could celebrate an #InterationalWomensDay not overshadowed by a devastating war waged by deluded men endorsing toxic masculinity against a regime endorsing a different form of toxic masculinity justified by misguided religious ideas.

Itβs vulnerable bc during global crises we are all vulnerable but the underpinnings are a function of Sanchezβs personality (wanting to lead from the front, making no excuses), its partyβs econ/energy vision that is paying dividend (βgreen baby greenβ + immigr)+ Spainβs memory of Francoβs autocracy.
Good thread. And a chance to remind ourselves of this superb piece by John Kay: www.ft.com/content/bfb7...
