Yellow armband with black lettering and a family of four black silhouette laying on a rainbow-colored welcome mat. Under the armband is a small notepad, a yellow notecard that matches the armband, and a cell phone turned upside down with a sticker on the back. The sticker is of a tree with a fox hugging it from behind. The text in the tree says โCould use a hugโ. The black lettering on the armband and the note card reads โProtect our community. Yesterday was a lot. Wasnโt prepared for the ski masks, unmarked white vans, and disappearing people in my community. I showed up when I got the text anyway.

The Dallas ICE office is involved in a mass removal effort targeting nearly 200 people โ many without removal orders โ scheduled to be deported to El Salvador today.
This is not just cruel โ it is lawless. I refuse to stay quiet while families are being torn apart, and lives are being put at risk.
How will you be organizing your people between now and May 15th? Can we build momentum around May Day and keep carrying it forward?

Photograph of a text from the book What It Takes to Heal by Prentis Hemphill. The text is circled in red and says โOver time, I have come to understand that social transformation (the push for more just systems and policies) and personal transformation (healing our own trauma and reshaping our relationships) have to happen together. Not one or the other but both. We neglect ourselves or our growth in our rush to change what is external. When we do, we fracture, and succumb to what we are unwilling to face.โ

Thanks for the recommendations!
