Food for thought. Getting all of your current events information from memes and social media headlines is like studying history strictly through watching old Looney Tunes cartoons.

Unfortunately, the publisher does not offer snail mail subscriptions. You can order single issues online, though. magazineshop.us/collections/...
I wonder what the Venn Diagram would look like between:
--Guys who insist tampons work great for gunshot wounds
--Guys who would be embarrassed to buy tampons for the women in their lives
I suspect itβd be close to a single circle.

If youβre hiking in a group and waiting for slower people to catch up, donβt start walking again right away once they get to you. You got a rest, but they didnβt.
This applies to more than just hiking.
CPR is the human version of blowing into a Nintendo cartridge, hoping it will work again.

Take time to make a list of things that you love and appreciate about each member of your family. Put that list somewhere safe. If you end up stuck at home together in an extended grid down crisis, you can use the list to remind yourself that you donβt truly hate these people.

Laurie Nevermanβs upcoming book is up for preorder. I was honored to write a Foreword for this book, and I got a sneak peek at the manuscript. Folks, let me just say this. If you only buy one preparedness book this year, make it this one. It really is that good.

Happy book birthday to me! Prepper's Home Defense (2nd edition) is out today. I don't know why Amazon is showing a delivery date over a week out, though.

The very first time you use a piece of kit or a survival technique shouldnβt be during an actual crisis. Test them first in a safe or controlled environment, such as your backyard, where you can afford to make mistakes. Book learning is great, but dirt time is critical.
Todayβs writing session is being brought to you by Burt Sugarmanβs Midnight Special, the letters EDC, and the number 19.

This is the lowest price I've seen on the new edition of Prepper's Home Defense. Order it now and it'll ship the day it's released (Feb 24th). Twelve bucks is a pretty good price.

Finishing up my review of the Hill People Gear Commuter. I'm really digging this pack!
This is why we can't have nice things. It's also one of the reasons why so many people still give preppers the side-eye.
For the record, this is a terrible idea.
Wow!
"Widely regarded as the most well-respected author in the preparedness community, Jim Cobb has spent decades stripping away the sensationalism of 'survivalism' to reveal the essential, life-saving truth of practical self-reliance." ~Patrick Diedrich, RECOIL OFFGRID Senior Editor
Family photo, minus one title (Prepper's Communication Handbook) that I don't appear to have on my shelves. This includes 1st and 2nd editions of the three books we've revised in the last few years.
We have four stray cats living under our three season room. Our indoor cats aren't happy with these visitors. I wonder if @briankeene.bsky.social's cat herding skills are available for rent?
[In all seriousness, we have live traps set up and will rehome them to our local no kill shelter.]
Okay, this is pretty cool. Want a new Swiss Army Knife, but not sure which model to get? This handy tool will help you figure it out.

Before I dove into the lucrative and jet-set career of being a freelance writer and editor, I spent about 15 years serving divorces, evictions, lawsuits, and other good news.
It wasnβt nearly as much fun as it sounds. Here's a peek behind the curtain.

I don't know how long the price will last, as I'm not privy to such matters, but a bit over ten bucks is a great price on this book.
