Such a classic music video that showed a wonderful diversity of girls and women, young and old.
Exactly RE: whales and probable crash both. The other issue is the long-standing one of publishing over emphasizing best-sellers and letting the midlist die, and then banking on best-sellers to cover their βspaghetti against the wallβ publishing approach.
Itβs dismaying to see a vocal minority dominate book discussion.
My own experience is that most readers will read either 1st or 3rd, provided it works. The same for past tense vs present. If it doesnβt work, thatβs when they notice.
I hate this thief of time.

I just saw your post today, while at Rainforest Writers Retreat (Session 3) and it hit home. Iβm still dealing with the aftermath of pushing myself to write faster and over emphasizing word count. I attended an excellent presentation yesterday on better gauging what works for each of us.
"Write every day."
No. Being a writer is about a lot more than a word count. When I am working on a rough draft novel, yes, I'll push to a goal, but most days are occupied by heavy research, reading, revisions, or searching for small markets.

This presentation at Rainforest today did indeed rock. It gave us plenty of insight and tools to build sustainable writing habits.
To paraphrase Le Guin: fantasy is escapist, and we must take as many with us as possible.
There is no greater feeling than knowing something I wrote helped another soul escape during difficulties. Iβve been through many hospital visits with many books, myself. πππ

Same here. I woke up at 3AM and went to my writing office to look at the sky. We were completely socked in. To be fair, the forecast called for clouds.

This is such an exciting day for me, with the premiere of the film made about my 17 years rewilding an Irish Atlantic rainforest (also the film's title).
What a surreal moment in my life it'll be to see the ecosystem I know and love so well on a big cinema screen!!
Structure of a creative breakthrough. 1. Clarify problem 2. Do massive research on problem. Gives you information to use and keeps your conscious mind occupied. 3. Brainstorm every answer you can come up with. 4. When you have reached the absolute limit to what you can come up with, take a complete break. Do something else: exercise, see a movie, nap, etc. When your conscious mind is totally pre-occupied with another task the A-ga moment will occur.
