This nomination is particularly significant in the current context of backlash against human rights, women's rights, sexual and reproductive rights, disability rights, gender equality and humanitarian law worldwide.

As NISEA-PCBL has said: "We understand the grave security concerns these countries face. However, true sovereignty and lasting peace cannot be achieved by embracing weapons that have historically harmed civilians more than they have protected nations....

IHL & ICL have lost credibility due to our failure to stop the ongoing #genocide in Gaza.

Leaving the #MBT would threaten these 4 countries' own civilians and represents one more step in the dismantlin #IHL. All this will hurt their own countries badly too, sooner rather than later.
