I see @netflix.com are increasing their prices. If we all just cancelled our subscription for one month then that would help balance out the increase on an annual basis.

Switzerland have a capital gains tax on property (most capital assets for private investors are CGT exempt).
I like that their CGT property tax is a prescribed CGT rate that’s regressive based on length of ownership - would prefer if NZ CGT proposals did this rather than use the marginal tax rate.

Still it might be in line with the exponential growth that continued given that we’re now at 10million. Invite codes were still in short supply when I joined.

Bluesky now has over 10 million users, and I was #250,778!
Thanks to @kiwiroad.net for the invite code.

Was pleasantly surprised this morning while waiting for the bus to see and hear a Kākā fly southwards down the Devonport penisula.

Be interesting to see if this split holds once the clean car rebate / fee is gone next year.

I have the Powerwall 2 and I’m happy that I can store solar power whenever the sun shines and I’m not otherwise using it regardless of whether the car is there or not. Can also have a cheaper car, PHEV in my case. Car bidirectional is useful though especially in winter when more power is used.

Hi Simon, I’ve discovered that the Swiss Automobile Association have a great tool for comparing the lifetime CO2 from production, operation and disposal of vehicles.

Interesting TIL fact of the day #nzpol

The median New Zealander is almost twice as wealthy (US$193.1K) as a median person living in the U.S. of A. (US$107.7K)

I don’t think they are wanting the Greens to be torn apart, I think they are simply quite thick by thinking there is compatibility. Take for instance these off the planet remarks by Bill English.

What the actual f… Bill English is so out of step with reality, he obviously doesn’t know he’s on an overcooked planet Earth.
For corporates, sustainability is long-term thinking, risk management, and capitalism that also considers stakeholders not only shareholders.

Subaru NZ do not know the battery chemistry of the Solterra - it’s not like this should be as secret as KFC’s 11 herbs and spices.

Nonsense, fuel prices are going to massively increase, the ETS is now the only tool to reduce emissions, but don’t worry you’ll be able to pay for higher fuel prices with your ETS dividend receipts.

The Model 3 AWD is a great price before rebate but I’ll need more ground clearance.

12.10.2023 05:52 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0

I will keep going with my Outlander PHEV for a bit longer - don’t like the large dimensions of utes. I’m sure more choice will be coming soon - AWD means dual motor so they are still quite expensive.

12.10.2023 01:44 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0

Totally, my wish list is a AWD (need to launch a boat on the beach) and a LFP battery - find it frustrating that manufacturers don’t specify battery chemistry - Subaru Solterra would be ok but I guess it has NMC.

11.10.2023 23:23 👍 2 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0

That’s good to know given that the BYD has a LFP battery that has lower energy density (performance/ acceleration) than NMC.

CO2 emissions lowest since 1999, NZ finally on track to meet first carbon budget. But a change of government will kill this progress.

Personally I’m finding the large Range Rovers and Merc SUVs etc with 4 exhausts and no tow bar more distasteful.

My two sons have the same phone for about 5 years - has lasted really well. On a different matter your votecompass result was similar to mines but I was surprised how low my % agreement scores with all the parties were (highest was TOP at 67%, then Greens at 57%).
