Definitely made me want to find the source but I think it's still only an 800 page behemoth of a Japanese tome. Cute actors through and blended between romance and rivalry. Loved the Kabuki performances. Beautiful. The midlife crisis was incredible with the long fall and rise etc.

14. Blades of the Guardians
Fantastic sword fighting in the desert story that managed to be a blast without any goofy magic. Xiao Qi was fun comedy. Dao Ma v Jade-Faced Ghost was incredible with the fire and Dao Ma v Di Ting in the storm was most memorable. Yan Ziniang grew on me. I want more.

Celebration song ๐ I loved its moments, further the ethnic dance and song in a traveling group scene was fun too. The theme and plot has been done before and largely follows those beats but the execution was great and there were ways it subvert expectations

Interesting animation style with a glimpse of a potential future driven by drastic changes where the earth is actively trying to un-alive humans. Doubt we get automatons at that level. Needed a bit more world building (the great fallow? Why time travel?) but the friendships were ๐ฉท
I do this every week for a year+ now. 2-3 hours on Sunday.
