The author looks wistfully skyward and says “it was a small scene in Brooklyn … we have the same birthday actually!”
While the author stews in nostalgia, blissfully ignorant, the teens give each other a look. One of the teens says “oh my God…”

I rarely see a solo kid on a scooter, but I do see pairs regularly. For like college on up it’s def a thing here, but younger it seems to be a group activity? I also am on the bike path at like commuter hours, not school’s-out hours tbf
