i've been meaning to write instead of do gameplay stuff for like a month now i swear

so i get that the whole "banks are censoring nsfw art" shit is bad. i've been calling abt it daily. but if someone who is a survivor of csa talks abt how the conflation of drawn csam with queer expression is making them uncomfortable & your reaction is to call them a "useful idiot," fuck you.

like yeah sorry i think art expressing the nuance of queer experiences (including that depicting abusive dynamics) being lumped in with art romanticizing and sexualizing the abuse of kids is. bad. it's exactly the "logic" they're using to propose banning it. i don't want to be associated with that.

as a survivor of it myself, if you come to me like "oh my god we have to stand up for these ppl making the kind of art that was used to groom you and excuse your abusers' actions for years of your childhood," i'm gonna have to tell you to eat shit. sorry.

floating into the air to charge up is a powerful visual, i might still keep that part at least. could be pretty cool for an electric 2-turn move that isn't as busted as electro shot, but maybe that's making it too easy to take advantage of the telekinesis debuff and it should be a super focus blast

something more inviting than just using clear smog / haze / whirlwind, obviously. a full hp heal would theoretically work but the hail mary will have accomplished nothing if it didn't KO, plus the opponent might simply not have an attack that feels fun to use against it

I like the idea of a move where the foe telekineses themself start of turn 1 and telegraphs they're going to reset all stat changes end of turn 2, to invite you to fire off any Draco Meteors/Thunders/etc you have, but i'm having trouble thinking of an incentive for the player to use it as well

that being said i haven't actually played one in months, i cancelled my NSO as an extra motivator to make my own replacement that won't get so stale

okay i also just put the "when you can sense the bullshit in-story justification for an absent father character's actions coming but can't stop it" post in there

this is probably the biggest divide between me having fun with raids and everyone else suffering through them, other than how buggy and weird they are -- without cheers, you have to bring tools that give you fun ways to support your team and not just whittle away at that 9999 HP with basic attacks

(incidentally this is a big part of why one of my loftier goals i'd like to set up even if i have to get help with it is your pokemon having multiple saved builds to toggle through)

espeeeeecially if you're playing them as a normal casual playthrough thing and not making builds specifically for them. yeah life dew acid spray skitter smack goodra has a lot of fun control over the flow of raid battles but what about a regular ass pokemon you actually use in your adventure

i'm tuning the best raid moves a bit and adding more of them in different types so the world doesn't revolve around just coaching and acid spray, but i should probably still try to implement cheers because it's so boring to have no tactical options relevant to the current situation besides attacking

the most important thing of all of course is finally righting the wrong that there is never a tera raid with nemona arven and penny as partners. you should always have that option here if you care more about having a good time watching them argue than being optimal

i'm proud of the ideas of "leveling up chikorita gives more grass shards than KOing grass types" + "there's a level cap" = "so if you want early giga drain, raise as many grass pokemon as you can" but i shouldn't strictly enforce a particular playstyle either (besides heavily nerfing solo runs lol)

i've probably said that already, it's just really important and exciting to me. i realized my resource and crafting system might still promote an uninteresting form of grinding despite the level cap per badge, so i should provide a fun way to farm fire shards that isn't locked behind seeing credits

i dream of having an offline simulation of the tera raid board that's a more efficient alternative to grinding for EXP / EVs / materials against random encounters in routes you've already cleared, with a difficulty select and level cap to keep it from getting too going-through-the-motions easy

thinking of how to set up a simple to define scripted move system that can handle a wigglytuff boss both starting each phase with sing and using hyper voice every turn as a second action as a soft enrage for taking too long (besides the hard enrage of being blown out of the cavern, ofc)

the idea is basically multiple hp bar phases like ogerpon or masters legendaries, with each phase resetting their status completely like it was a newly sent out pokemon, and "shields" being replaced by each phase having a different set of protections rather than always the good as gold status shield

someone did make a tera raid script for essentials a few months ago without me noticing but honestly their vision of it is so different from mine i think i'll stick to just figuring out my own approach based on heavily modifying totem bosses

sometimes you can address optimizing the fun out of games by having there be an argument in favor of any available approach so it ultimately just comes down to taste. other times you can do so by fucking deleting IVs good lord get the fuck out of here we can do better than these stupid bottle caps
