I spent time this week at a CS systems workshop. There was a lot of discussion about the importance of negative results in CS systems, and how they don't get published.
A guy gets thrown into prison. Every day, he tries escaping in a different way. After a month of failures, his cellmate says "None of this works. I've tried it all before". The guy asks why he didn't say anything, and the cellmate responds "you can't publish negative results"
