we loaded out while the patrons' irritated eyes glared invisible daggers straight into our abdomens, and we made like DB Cooper and disappeared.

My singular regret is that I did not know Spanish.

What I did was quickly and quietly told the band the progression, before we launched into a fifteen minute rendition of

Feliz Navidad.

My pride has forever been a problem/solution, and even after 3 hrs of a hell-gig, I was ready to walk, money be damned. The booze it took to dampen aforementioned pride was also at play. One of my bandmates at the time logically whispered that [cont.]

but young and broke, we persisted. So we get to the end of our final(!) set, I let the patrons(!) know we've got one more, we play it and that's how a finale is done thank you goodnight. Right here is when the sound tech found it appropriate to come in through the monitors and tell us [cont.]

and I truly wish this was made up, the sound tech started playing HARMONICA, that oh-so-inobtrusive instrument, along w us during one of our songs. This was through the PA AS WELL AS THROUGH THE MONITORS.

[Editor's note: this would be grounds for assault in an actual venue.]

had a handful of our people there, and everyone that wasn't our people was plentifully un-stoked about our lack of David Allan Coe or Alabama or whatever covers. To be fair, there was maybe 35-40 people in this joint. It was around Christmas time. This will be important later.
