I remember hearing the foghorns as a child - what’s next ? A return of the Interurban on the Arbutus line?
@decidenow-acp
Proponent of everyone, whether 18 or 90+ having a completed “What If” information package in a GreenSleeve on their fridge door. I’m also on a mission to rework how Advance Care Planning is organized and explained. Too many do not follow through.

Exactly what Michael, a board certified chaplain in Vancouver, did for his father when he was (erroneously) given two weeks to live. blogs.timesofisrael.com/my-dad-the-h...
Highly recommended! This article is soon be published in The Journal of Palliative Medicine: “My Dad - The Hospice Graduate” submitted by Michael Zoosman. drive.google.com/file/d/1VH3Y...
I really hope Canada’s new federal government reviews the cost of halting parent immigration sponsorships. Parents and grandparents are a quite different and special category compared to the “student mill”.

Exactly what C-14, the original MAiD legislation in Canada was created for. Terminal disease, family on-side, creative last interactions.
First in Canada: Colwood on Vancouver Island, population 20,300, is going to build & run its own medical clinic. The doctors will doctor & the town will take care of the business side.
Unfair $200 cheques may not be coming…or maybe they will.
Freeland has resigned from cabinet, but will stay on, presumably ‘till an election is called.
The two top reasons for MAiD in 2023 were cancer and ALS. The majority of people receiving MAiD in Canada in 2023 lived in QC, ON or BC. Unknown how many were originally approved as Track 2 (with a 90 day wait) & were reclassified as Track 1, meaning they could immediately schedule a date for MAiD.
I think what’s missing is terminal patients having strong advocates who not only know what the ill people need to give them a more comfort as their disease progresses before a date for MAiD, but who also knows how to get what’s needed happening. For instance, getting a palliative team in place.
How much time does the drs fee schedule allow for this discussion? It will no doubt take longer than 15 minutes.
Maybe there should be some thoughts to resurrecting the wards of yore? Eight bed wards for post-op emergency treatment requiring in-hospital recovery stays? Not a terrific solution, but better than a bed in a hallway. @josieosborne.bsky.social
