Donald Gunn and I was over at John McLeod's last night and we fiddled and laughed to a considerable extent. I had to do all the fiddling. I came home about 1 o'clock. /2

This is a 30-year-old story, but I have friends who flew their west-of-Summerside grandparents to their wedding in Halifax. It was their first flight. Interesting, but not gobsmacking. It was also their first time in Charlottetown - *that's* gobsmacking. Here's B for a few days in Charlottetown.
#JamesBarryDiary 7/3/1876 March A dark warm thawing day, some rain betimes. A. Smith and I went to Pictou to day. I staid all night. I went to hear a concert. - "Silver Cornet band". It was a miserable affair indeed. I slept at the American house. A nice clean, cosy place and nice folks also.
It won't last long, but damn it put a spring in my step!

Our snow (mostly) melted last week, exposing a brilliant near-luminous green throughout the yard - which was soooo welcome. Then it turned cold again, and we now look like Siberia in April.

#JamesBarryDiary 4/3/1876 Clear and something cold. Water very low. I can only grind wheat 3/4 of an hour at a time, but the water rises in about 20 minutes. There is a leak in the dam behind the grist mill somewhere. I am still tremendous afflicted with the damned cold. I am almost mad with it.
