The least shocking thing ever is learning DOGE used chatGPT to identify which grants were “DEI.” It is critical to understand that LLMs are an authoritarian technology meant to win the millennia-long war on critical thinking and art. They are a right wing wet dream.
REI walked away from negotiations with the @reiunion.bsky.social, refusing to pay union and non-union employees the same wage, unacceptably demanding union employees take less. Now they're proceeding with benefit and wage cuts against union members. If you're a member of REI, tell them to eat shit.
i can't wait to see my close personal friends Dr. Robby, Dr. Mel King, Dr. Whittaker, and Dr. Santos tonight

Obviously some of this stuff is done non-publicly but it also underscores how stupid a lot of these guys are; there are secret expensive devices you can personally obtain to get the names and info of many of these event and protest organizers or activists, they’re called Google and Facebook
Ha ha.
If I had a nickel for every time Franz Ferdinand was involved in the precursor events of a world war, I’d have two nickels, which isn’t a lot, but it’s weird it happened twice
Same is true on the other end. Lots of people in their 80s make good decisions.
The whole age/generations thing as an explanation for anything is overdone.
He absolutely is. And, by extension, any team from a country he is at odds with.
Trump only got into Wharton after his family pulled strings and got him an interview with an official who did a "special favor" to the family. A Wharton prof later said he was "the dumbest goddamn student" he ever had.
So, yes, his admission does say a lot about how smart he is.
I agree with intentionally making space for young leaders to emerge. And the elders I respect are usually thrilled to do so. Granted, the context is more bottom-up political organizing than the halls of power.
Trump post on Truth Social: The Iran National Soccer Team is welcome to The World Cup, but 1really don't believe it is appropriate that they be there, for their own life and safety. Thank you for your attention to this matter! President DONALD J. TRUMP 641 ReTruths 2.59k Likes 3/12/26, 8:00 AM
Pains me to say it, but the world should definitely boycott the World Cup. Would be great if U.S. soccer players and institutions took the lead in calling for this.
#BoycottWorldCup
Rogan would amplify this dumb critique of Trump.
Throughout my life, I've found myself in circles with people in their 70s, 80s, and 90s.
People for whom each decade of life brought more wisdom and more determination to leave behind a better world for generations to come.
Fuck Joe Rogan!
That thing is definitely alive
SEATTLE (AP) -- Washington state lawmakers were within their rights when they declined to issue press passes to three conservative media figures, a federal judge ruled Tuesday in a case that echoes a national discussion over who qualifies as a journalist The Democratic-controlled Washington House of Representatives early this year declined to issue press credentials that would have granted the three access to parts of the Capitol in Olvmpia that are off-limits to the general public. The body said thev were not bona fide journalists because they are participants in the political arena - advocating for certain agendas and hosting or speaking at rallies. The three asked the court for an emergency temporary restraining order that would force the House to give them passes in the closing days of the session. The group includes Ari Hoffman, host of "The Ari Hoffman Show' on conservative Seattle talk radio station K VI-AM: Brandi Kruse, host of the podcast "unDivided" and Jonathan Choe, a senior fellow at the Discovery Institute, a conservative think tank.,
"The court acknowledges that both parties legitimate interests at stake here.' Estudillo said in his order. But denying the temporary restraining order is appropriate because the three failed to show that they are likely to succeed on their free press or due process claims. and the "House has a substantial interest in ensuring the reporters it permits access the House floor meet the credential standards promulgated so the House may debate and pass laws without interruption or lobbying in that space."
A federal judge has declined to issue an order that would've granted press passes to right-wing figures Jonathan Choe, Brandi Kruse & Ari Hoffman.
This ruling reaffirms what many of us have been saying for years: They are propagandists, not journalists.

Take their billions and make them work for a living.

After losing, a job at CBS, perhaps?
TFW you run for Congress just to get some sleep in between all the fascisms.
And, unlike us weirdos, most people who care about their fellow humans tune out even more when things are extremely fucked up and they feel powerless to do anything about it.
So... talk to your family, neighbors and coworkers. And don't be a condescending asshole.
If only we had an opposition party.
I find the voucher argument pretty compelling. Do you have thoughts on Sarah Jeong's replies to my question about this? Seems right that we have to deal with not just ownership/control but also the massive shift in how people are accessing information.

After a series of fatal strikes involving civilians in Iraq and Afghanistan, Congress directed the Pentagon to reduce civilian casualties as part of a 2019 law. During the Biden administration, the Defense Department created the Civilian Harm Mitigation and Response initiative. The civilian mitigation teams – cut by 90% by Hegseth – work with military commanders on target planning, and making sure that targets are actually military sites. The teams help come up with "no strike" lists, including religious and cultural sites and schools
I knew that the Department of War shot a missile into a school & killed 175 civilians, mostly children.
This is learned today:
Secretary of War Hegseth had cut the teams assigned to prevent such tragedies by 90%.

The Atlantic wrote a piece saying the Epstein Files are not a big conspiracy but then there's a photo of the owner with Maxwell
Hahaha OK that's pretty good.
Bonkers
Tragic but wholesome story.
Books don't count.
Don't count books.
Just books.
When you learn how hard it is to get people to come to three consecutive organizing meetings, you tend to spout off less about things.
I too would rather ignore politicians but alas they have too much power over how I live.
