If you're trying to figure out what to do right now, my advice is to just pick a thing that you think might be useful in some way, however small, and do it. Doing a thing leads you to doing another, bigger thing, and prepares you for that next thing.

Giving thanks with a grateful heart for my family -- and those we invited who were new to an American Thanksgiving. Whatever is happening in our country's politics, let's be generous and kind to others.

Hooray, Jen Larino, @jskstanford.bsky.social fellowships alum, for saying out loud what we all know to be true: Journalism pushes people to overexert and overgive. That can only be sustainable for a time. What actually makes sense?

Such a fun read -- especially for anyone (like me) who worked in that historic SF Chronicle building. It includes photos of newspaper life in the 1920s, with fire poles to a sub-basement printing press, info transmitted by pneumatic tubes "and a clock tower with a view of San Francisco’s future."
