Close-up of a rose stem cutting in water, showing possible callus formation at the cut end.
As my father was about to dump the jar with a Morticia Adams style rose (been in water since mid January), I noticed this. Think it'll root?

Simple pen doodles on graph paper: a (headless) mermaid with flowing hair and scaled tail on the left, a small crab person on the right. I mermaids head is above the water.

Indoor tomato plant with ripe red tomatoes and green fruit, tied to wooden stakes illuminated by a warm lamplight. Bubble wrap insulation visible on the right, green onions below. Behind the plant, out the window, there is a twilight garden visible, with some patches of snow still there.
When the leaves started turning yellow, I started Spring 2.0 by planting seeds to keep on gardening all through the winter. Now, the snow outside is finally melting away. The dissonance between indoors and outdoors could not be sharper.

Green shoots of snowdrops emerging through moss and melting snow, with bright sunlight accentuating the ice crystals.
The garden is waking. Things poking out. Green bits about to bloom. Oh, the joy!

Kas tieši VIŅĀ ir tāds? Pāris dzīvesvietas atpakaļ arī manā mazmājiņā karājās tieši viņa pašportreta reprodukcija...
The speed is, indeed, one of the benefits of the little ones. And I also prefer the taste, they feel more berry. And don't break under their own weight.
Nu, mans tēvs, ieraudzījis trendīgo metāla salmiņu (plastmasas salmiņa aizstājēju), kādu pavasari sajutās ļoti iedvesmots
A cluster of cherry tomatoes at various stages of ripeness, from pale green and yellow to deep red, growing on a plant indoors by a bright window.
Why the generic tomato shot?
Backstory: These are Zone 6b/7a, started from seed in Sept as fall arrived. Bare bones setup - a big window, a few grow lights. Many mistakes made. As March starts, they're ripening!
Variety: 🍅 Veranda Red.

A cucumber seedling with quite large leaves dramatically lit by a circular ring light (purple grow light) against a dark background, smaller seedlings visible behind it. The setup mimics influencer ring lighting.

A closeup of a tomato plant, a bunch of green cherry tomatoes, all but one still green, with the outlier one blushing orange. The unclear white background is, in fact, a lamp (white, bulb on) and bubble wrap (insulating the window)
Easy to miss (and hard to take a decent photo of), but look at the one far right!

Indoor tomato plant tied to a wooden stake, with clusters of small green tomatoes at various stages of ripeness. Green foliage fills the frame, with bright white snow visible through the window behind the leaves.
A fortnight and a half - the jungle deepens, the fruit ripens. The snow outside the window hidden behind the green. #gardeningindoors #vegetablegardening
Impressive
Mine is potatoes I forgot I had. Found them in the spring all happily sprouted, keen to LIVE. Planted them in an empty greenhouse.
Seedling pot with three young pepper seedlings showing their first leaves, photographed in natural window light.
Cayenne, acting very unlike peppers. It's been what, 5 days since I planted the (sprouted) seeds?

Small seedling propagation setup with a clear plastic dome over seed trays, illuminated by blue LED grow light, creating a glowing sci-fi vibe. On the right, a heater is visible.
I think I am ready to colonize Mars. What a difference these few days have made for my cucumbers! 🌱 #seedstarting #gardeningindoors #vegetablegardening
Overhead view of a dark ceramic bowl filled with milk and blueberries, with an ornate spoon resting in the bowl, photographed on a dark textured surface. Berries are, by the way, from my garden. Defrosted.
Blueberries, sugar, milk. A taste of childhood summer.

Zone 7 here. Started the slow ones already (peppers), will do eggplants next. Way, way too early for tomatoes, melons, etc.
Not all plants are made equal.
I've seen them sold, never tried. I will give them a shot! Thank you
What's the round black thing inside the square black thing? Some new-fledged fancy setup? My indoor lettuce failed, what if I just did it wrong?
Macro image of two germinating pepper seeds on a dark background (laptop charger), showing emerging roots.
Well well well... The saved seeds are SPRINTING while the packet contents still slumber. Left: Cayenne from a Lidl starter kit I've kept going for years. Right: Poupila mini pepper - too tiny to eat but pretty, like little fires 🔥

Dwarf and balcony ones, since they fit containers better. I prefer bed-free gardening. Plus all the random volunteers from previous years and compost that I will feel sorry for. And maybe give Kokoro (a big one) another go in the greenhouse.

An indoor windowsill garden during winter. Against a window heavily insulated with bubble wrap, a variety of plants; tomatoes, pots of scallions, herbs, post-bloom hyacinths, and an orchid. The lighting rig features a black clothes hanger suspending a five-panel LED garage light and a bright white bulb. A large mirror on the left reflects light back onto the plants. Gooseneck LED plant lamps provide extra love. A digital thermometer displays the indoor temperature. Looking through the milky bubble wrap layer, you see bright white snow.

My anti-winter window setup. Featuring a coat-hanger light rig, a mirror chasing the remnants of the sun, and enough bubble wrap to suggest I’m shipping the entire window.
Outside: a snow-white blanket of snow. -10°C now, forecasted down to -20°C

A LEGO build depicting a caricature of Donald Trump in a blue suit, made from standard LEGO bricks, photographed from the side. You can see that some blue ones are transparent, have axle holes or are ... green. As in, I was short. Tutorial is still around, if you search.
To celebrate #InternationalLEGODay, I’m sharing this old #LEGO build based on a tutorial that was floating around the net circa 2020. Congrats, y’all!
Assorted pepper seed packets on a table, some store bought, some saved.
Freshly planted seedling containers with soil and seed packet next to it on the table.
Starting #seedstarting! For zone 7a, probably early, but hey, I have big windowsills! I have equally big plans for indoor cucumbers, but for the actual #garden - the pepper family. Starting with saved and old seeds, to keep the stakes high. #vegetablegardening is the most fun #gardening, is it not?
Can relate. I added support sticks to my indoor tomatoes yesterday and started feeling ... accomplished. Or something.
Indoor tomato plants on a windowsill, tied to wooden sticks. Two lightbulbs hanging above them, white one on the left, pink one on the right.
Three weeks later: a whole hand taller, noticeably bushier. Switched to pink grow light, and the early bloomer finally set fruit instead of dropping blooms. Downside: from the street, my house now looks like either weed operation or red light district. The lamp's ambiguous.

Milzu maisā no Depo. Smalkie taukiem bagātinātie spec maisījumi aukstām ziemām ir fuj un pē, ja tic vietējai faunai.
