In the BBL today, the Perth Scorchers team not only has no overseas players, but every one plays for Western Australia in the Shield or One Day Cup. I suspect thatβs a first.

Can we have America troops come in and steal John Howard out of the Fox Cricket commentary box. #Ashes π.
It seems that many of the English are reluctant to admit that McCullum has failed miserably in his primary role. Perhaps it's time for Australia to nominate a proper coach for England so that we can have some decent competition.

Many thanks, Tony. Have a lovely holiday!!
Itβs interesting that McCullum as a player has not had a great record against Australia. Of the 16 Tests he played against Australia, he lost 13, drew 2 and won 1 (by 7 runs). Perhaps heβs not best placed to know how to beat Australia.

This is a wonderful piece from Anindya Dutta @cricwriter.bsky.social - please share it widely!
In this wrap up piece to the #INDvSA series in The Print, I look at where this SA team has come from and put their achievements in context. Also what should India do next?

I really loved doing this interview with Harry - an excellent guest who reminds me how much energy young people have!!

It's probably also relevant to note that, on what should have been day 4 of the first Test, this happened in Brisbane. To be fair, they were back in play 90 minutes after 28mm of rain fell, which is remarkable!

The question as to why that first Test should be held at Perth rather than the Gabba has one compelling answer - the weather. There are currently 20,000 shell-shocked English fans wandering around Perth in comfortable 22C heat.
The forecast for the first day of December says it will be 39C!

So, here's the scoop. I've got two anonymous former Ashes cricketers offering their opinions on the series. They'll continue, providing a piece apiece after each Test over on my newsletter.

I am most encouraged by this news - it was the day that Tony Abbott announced that he was granting a knighthood to Prince Philip that his fate was sealed.

This is actually the first Sussex game I have been able to get to in 60 years. Last time I watched Ted Dexter and John Snow were playing. Delighted to be hearing you, and that Sussex havenβt lost a wicket since I arrived!
