And Rian Johnson said, βthe fact that Blanc is willing to give the checkmate moment up in order to give a fellow human being a moment of grace in their most vulnerable and guilty moment is the most Christ-like thing thatβs done in the entire film, I think.β π€·ββοΈ
A screenshot of article text: He realizes that he shouldnβt be the one to reveal the culprit. Instead, he shows grace for βmy enemy, the broken, those who deserve it the least but who need it the most β for the guilty,β all in the spirit of what heβs learned from the true blessedness of Judβs work as a priest. βSome things are bigger than the individualβs needs and wants, and he discovers that through Jud,β says Craig. βHis mind is expanded. Itβs an exhilarating, thrilling feeling, and we all should try and do that occasionally.β
Daniel Craig literally said in an interview that Blanc chooses not to take his case-solving victory lapβand instead give the killer the opportunity to come forward and seek mercy through confessionβ*because* of his experience of Father Jud.
Itβs really thoughtful of them to do this the day before SNL

You actually have a ton of options! Keely Boeving with WordServe; pretty much everyone I've interacted with at Alive Literary (Kathleen Kerr and Rory Green are the main ones who come to mind); anyone at The Bindery (Morgan Strehlow and Ingrid Beck are favs).

This might be the post that gets me canceled, but
I'm currently listening to the each of the audiobooks of the Harry Potter books, followed by its movie, and I'm getting really excited about the HBO show because goodness so much great stuff from the later books wasn't covered.
My 1st grade just started to love reading. He's my rough-and-tumble kiddo and it's not naturally his jam, so the *delight* I felt when he complained about me not letting him finish his book because we had to leave for school. β€οΈ
I said to Rob early in 2021 that it was such a relief to be bored by a president, for the government to not be something that I was confronted with every single day. But I do wonder if some people--people who agree with Trump generally--enjoy the adrenaline rush of the drama.
My 4-year-old is getting his final dose this week! π (the rest of us are covered)
(There are a bunch of figure skaters on the flightβlike the DC flight that crashedβso it seems like a really intentional move to reassure them in particular.)
He walked us through the plan for the flight, let us know there will be some turbulence coming into Colorado, and asked us if anyone had questions for him. It was so human and kind.
Flying out of Midway 1 day after yesterdayβs near-miss. Our pilot just came out to the cabin and gave a really lovely speech about how he knows thereβs a lot going on right now and his top priority is to keep us safe. β€οΈ
Working on this project with @derwinlgray.bsky.social has been pure joy--a shared Kingdom partnership where it's all about Jesus and the people He loves. I'm so thrilled to see this book go out into the world today!
A screenshot of several news articles about the Delta Air Lines crash in Toronto, Canada, as well as articles about the Trump administration firing hundreds of FAA staff today (featured just below the crash news).
Reading this as I'm booking flights for 3 work trips over the next 3 months. (I'm fine, it's fine, everything's fine.)
(I married the best guy.)
I'm not saying I married the best guy, but I am saying that the guy I married just told me that his plan for my birthday involves giving me money (since I'm terrible about spending money on myself) and sending me out with my best friend to go thrift-store shopping (which she has been dying to do).
All my kids, with zero football knowledge, decided to root for the Eagles. One half into the Super Bowl, seems like a solid choice.
My husband was like, βis this an AI Tom Cruise?β
A quote from Rabbi Tarfon in Pirkei Avot: Do not be daunted by the enormity of the worldβs grief. Do justice now. Love mercy now. Walk humbly now. You are not obligated to complete the work, but neither are you free to abandon it.
The Scarlet Pimpernel holds up!
Did y'all know that you can play the OG Oregon Trail for free online? I made it to Willamette Valley with my whole party alive and money to spare, so yeah, you could say my skills have improved since I was 8. oregontrail.ws/the-oregon-t...
I'm paying $250 for a space I don't have to clean up and a bunch of college kids to manage a climbing wall/play games with a bunch of 7-year-olds for 2 hours. That feels...fundamentally way better than having to be the one to plan everything and letting those 7-year-olds take over my house?
The book-banning brigade has come to our kids' school, which means I'm in multiple texts and ongoing conversations about ideological motivations, manipulative language, and why reading challenging books matters.
This is so very good.
