It rained, then that froze, then it snowed something like 6” in five hours. It was an exhausting night. And my school didn’t close, so after a late night I had to be on the road to school by 5:45 am on roads that really weren’t any better.

I’ve been in a dark place for a very long time, and the loss of my job has pushed things even lower. I blame myself for not working harder, not making myself somehow invaluable. I’ve never considered myself smart, clever, or creative, and this situation I find myself in feels like validation.

I’ve hit a point where what I want from life and what’s possible are incongruent, and that has me reevaluating everything.
Despite how hard I’ve worked, my career has ended, and that really showed me how much of my self-worth was derived from my job.
