You’re welcome to live in a parallel universe where you pretend that Australia does not need any military allies and can just hope for the best without anyone to support us when we need it. But that doesn’t justify spreading lies and digging in when proved wrong.

Based on misrepresenting him.

They’ve said it over and over again. They are offering support to their allies who are being bombed by Iran - which allies have to do. But they won’t join US and Israel attacks. Do you want them to write you a personal letter saying same?

10.03.2026 03:09 👍 2 🔁 0 💬 2 📌 0

Look I can see why you wanted to change the subject. Suffice to say, perhaps because I am involved in the Labor Party - as you say “rusted on”, I see the complexity of the govt managing the US alliance under Trump and don’t think any of this as as simple as you’d like to make out.

10.03.2026 03:08 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 2 📌 0

Let’s see if people can work out the key difference between these two arguments:
👉🏻I wish Australia was not reliant on a strategic alliance with America because Trump is a nightmare.
👉🏻Australia should not be reliant on a strategic alliance with America because Trump is a nightmare.
Think about it.

And we don’t have any other option but to be an ally to America because who else is going to defend us if the shit hits the fan? We can’t pretend we don’t need allies - we have to live in the reality we have, not the one we’d like to have.

10.03.2026 03:03 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 5 📌 0

Ok so as I said, people whose entire argument comes from misrepresentation of reality do not have a strong argument. I get that you hate Albo and hate Labor - you’ve made that clear. But that’s not justification to spread lies.

10.03.2026 03:00 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 3 📌 0

Ok so you’re assuming that because Australia have joined US in other wars decades ago, they’re definitely lying when they say they’re not going to join in the Iran attack? And your argument is based on this assumption? Well I say that’s not fair and totally misrepresents reality.

10.03.2026 02:58 👍 2 🔁 1 💬 1 📌 0

“Joining a brutal war”. This is a ridiculous lie. Perfectly exemplifies what I’m complaining about above. Labor have made clear over and over again they are not joining the US’s Iran offensive. Why are you claiming they are (to bash Labor)?

10.03.2026 02:55 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0

Yes, I see it too. It’s ridiculously simplistic. Do these people realise that if Australia was ever attacked, we would need allies to come to our aid? Many seem to want to live in a world where they believe Australia can gain everything we need from alliances but not give anything. How simple!

10.03.2026 02:54 👍 5 🔁 1 💬 6 📌 0

There is a big difference between govt supporting allies who are being attacked, and actively joining in attacking Iran. Govt have made it clear they’re doing former (their responsibility if they want others’ help, and not doing the latter). I think is entirely reasonable - we are not safe alone.

10.03.2026 02:52 👍 2 🔁 1 💬 1 📌 0

It doesn’t seem to matter how many times Labor govt says it, many on here pretend they haven’t heard.

10.03.2026 02:50 👍 2 🔁 0 💬 2 📌 0

Albanese is doing what he thinks is right to protect Australian alliances which keep us safe. He knows a lot more about what that means than a lay person. It’s not about making statements for the sake of it, it’s about what’s best for Australia. I can see how complex this must be for the govt.

10.03.2026 02:49 👍 7 🔁 1 💬 3 📌 0

Yes there’s also far too much bad faith over simplification going on. I guess if you could pretend Australia doesn’t need any allies (we do) and that it was in Australia’s best interest to piss off the US (it’s not), the whole situation might seem a lot simpler. But indeed it’s far more complex!

10.03.2026 02:47 👍 1 🔁 1 💬 1 📌 0

So you’re saying Trump - who wants to turn Gaza into a real estate development - is better? I think you misunderstand what “better” means.

10.03.2026 02:43 👍 3 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0

If in order to make your argument you have to completely misrepresent what the govt is doing, your argument isn’t strong. Let’s start with facts first and proceed from there!

10.03.2026 02:39 👍 12 🔁 1 💬 0 📌 0

I don’t know how many times the govt has to reiterate that Australia is not joining the US and Israel in attacking Iran before everyone stops accusing them of being in coalition. Just like all other US allies, Australia was not consulted, did not agree, and is not joining in. Why imply otherwise?

The Gillard years were a mess of unacceptable misogyny. I know One Nation probably chose David Farley to run in Farrer BECAUSE he is a vile misogynist (& probably a racist bigot too - like Hanson). One Nation are a stain on Australia and should be condemned (and not preferenced - shame on Liberals).

Yes and this exclusion is deliberate - to admit the structural issues facing the Liberals is to admit they should never have been in power in the first place. Can’t see any mainstream voices willing to go out on that limb.

No matter the spots, the Liberal leopard remains the same Despite calls for reform, the Liberal Party’s core purpose – serving elite interests through fear and division – remains unchanged.

There is discussion about whether Liberals will be decimated in SA election. This seems bizarre, but also not that surprising. I wrote this about the federal Liberals’ electoral woes after the federal election last year. This explains the SA Libs’ problem👇🏻

Cory Bernardi - a nasty, bigoted, divisive politician - might be a One Nation adherent now but let’s not forget that he is the product of the Liberal Party. As he became more and more extreme and discriminatory towards minorities, he remained a LIBERAL Senator. Speaks volumes of Liberal “values”.

Liberal leader Hurn was asked about what she thought of Bernardi’s comments that linked gay marriage to bestiality and his support of Hanson saying there are no good Muslims. Her weasel word response was “I haven’t seen them”. Well you’ve seen them now, so what do you think?

SA Liberals to preference One Nation over ALP as Bernardi comments condemned South Australia's Liberal opposition will preference One Nation over Labor at the upcoming state election as parties condemn "outrageous" comments by One Nation's Cory Bernardi.

SA Libs have announced they’re preferencing One Nation ahead of Labor at the state election. Any dignity the Liberal Party had left is gone. One Nation isn’t preferencing Liberals but Liberals are preferencing One Nation. SHAME!

Australian here. We have mandatory voting. This means everyone gets used to voting for the better option (which was obviously Harris), rather than believing that you can only vote for someone if you like 100% of what they’re offering. It’s not marriage. It’s a PREFERENCE. Americans should try it.

Yes possibly!

06.03.2026 22:47 👍 2 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0

But why would Libs preference One Nation when One Nation won’t do same? One Nation is competing with Libs to be second placed behind Labor in some seats. It’s really hard to know what is going to happen in this three-way contest.

06.03.2026 22:47 👍 8 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0

Fascinating scenario in SA election. One Nation is refusing to preference Liberals - have an open ticket. So this raises the question of where Liberals will direct preferences. They won’t preference Labor or Greens or Independents (who may beat them in some seats). Will they preference One Nation?

At SA election candidate forum a Liberal candidate apparently urged voters to support the Liberals because if they don’t, SA will become a one party state and Labor a dictatorship. That’s the Lib’s pitch: vote for us because otherwise we’ll be extinct. I wouldn’t have thought it was a strong message
