#Mozambique is experiencing devastating flooding across vast swathes of the country following intense rainfall. Over 430,000 people have been affected, with around 50,000 forced to flee their homes. Children and families have been cut off from critical services.

UNICEF is deeply saddened by the deaths of 22 people, including 5 children, in a bus crash that took place on the morning of Tuesday 25th March in the Cafumpe region of Gondola district, in the central Mozambican province of Manica. UNICEF sends its sincere condolences to the families of the deceased. This incident highlights the serious toll of road accidents on children in Mozambique and underscores the importance of all efforts to improve road safety.

UNICEF is concerned about the impact on children & families. Ahead of the cyclone, we prepositioned large quantities of essential supplies.
#CycloneJude hitting #Mozambique now, threatening destruction across Nampula & Zambezia. Around 1m people at risk, with 1200 schools and 120 health care facilities likely to be put out of action. UNICEF is on the ground, ready to respond, but needs will likely exceed capacity.
