One of the questions I get asked a lot at events is “how much research did you have to do” and usually the answer is that I didn’t have to do a lot of book-specific research - because I’m interested in history and read about it/watch documentaries/visit historical sites regularly anyway

You know the best way to kill AI? Don't use it. Don't buy it. Don't share it. Don't give the people who use it your labour or your money.

When we spoke the other day I referred to you as a friend then immediately panicked that I was being presumptuous and you just think of me as a weird acquaintance

This is an incredible book. So good I had to keep reading even unwell. The aliens are extremely alien but also relatable, and the humans feel like a warning. Tchaikovsky at his best

God Almighty, things are awful aren't they? If you can write some words, make some art, play some music, or create anything that makes you and anyone else feel even a tiny bit better for even a second then you should pour some energy into that.

My body is informing me that I did too much today. That consists of:
- a load of washing
- cleaning the kitchen
- cleaning the bathroom
- hoovering and mopping
- taking the kids to the country park
- hanging up the washing
This is normal stuff that a normal adult should be able to do without agony

I will complete a series of stunts if Godzilla as a Young Man Named Mike gets anywhere near the Hugos!
If on the voting list at all, I will video my best Godzilla ROAR and post it here!
If longlisted, I will ROAM Glasgow in an inflatable dinosaur suit!
If it gets to the shortlist, I will...

A 5’2” woman is standing beside a pile of books which is several inches taller than her
Last week, I found Mr K measuring my (3) TBR piles next to the bed. He informed me that if I put them all together, the pile would be taller than me.
Reader, he was right 😂
