an example of all the things included and not included in the BBB/Trump cuts rippling through the country
Major media seem flummoxed about what to do when Trump shares a fake video of Obama getting arrested. Maybe they think the options are A) take the bait, or B) ignore it. But there's a 3rd option: Gather all the crazy examples and write big, loud stories about how the president is mentally unhinged.
Red states are far different from the stereotypes... they are much, much worse, in cold fact. www.msn.com/en-us/news/u...
Itβs costing taxpayers $450/M annually & Alligator Alcatraz concentration camp is already flooding. Imagine a hurricane. People are going to die.
Thereβs always enough money to hurt folks, but when it comes to public transit, low-income housing, schools, or public healthcare, βSorry, weβre broke.β
Make no mistake:
Alligator Alcatraz IS a concentration camp, and they absolutely ARE planning genocide and βethnic cleansing.β
As a white person, i donβt know what I can do to help, but if all I have is my voice, I will make sure itβs heard.
Rep. Dean: "The senators voted on this not knowing exactly what was in the bill. I bet they loved the part about no sales tax on silencers. Really, folks? We want to make silencers more plentiful in this country at the behest of the representative who owns gun stores? Conflicts of interest abound."
AOC: "On this point of tax on tips, as one of the only people in this body who has lived off of tips, I want to tell you a little bit about the scam ... the cap on that is $25,000 while you're jacking up taxes on people who make less than $50,000 across the US ... while kicking them off the ACA."
Excerpt from βInventing the Renaissanceβ by Ada Palmer. βThe quest for Greek had passed its centennial when Poliziano was born in 1454, into a world where he could access good Greek while he was young enough to learn to translate and compose with fluency. Today Renaissance Penguin Classics all sit side by side, but it took teamwork, decades, and generations to get those texts, each step as different as the generations of our century.β
Thinking about tightening university budgets and cancelling individual subjects and whole courses as I read @adapalmer.bsky.socialβs succinct account of how it took more than a century for Renaissance Italyβs scholars to develop enough expertise to make a decent translation of Homerβs poetry.
Unwelcome news:
"We may have passed a tipping point and entered a new state defined by persistent sea ice decline, sustained by a newly discovered feedback loop."

Removing info on climate impacts is dangerous: as if weβre collectively steering a car down a curving road only looking through the rearview because the windshield that enables us to look ahead to prepare for whatβs coming is being painted over, as I say here π¬

Itβs a terrible bill. It will literally kill people. The most vulnerable among us will suffer as the wealthiest benefit. Itβs perverse. I wish there were something I could do. But alas, I am only a U.S. Senator from Alaska whose βnoβ vote would kill the bill. So I voted yes. You get it.
