Itβs hard to tell but I agree the feeds might need swapping in the photo. Unless Iβm guaranteed on the size I get scared swapping feeds/nibs on my fountain pens. Only successful one I did was putting an Opus 88 nib on a Monteverde feed but I think theyβre from the same parent company.

Yes I love the nib! I need to get used to it more and adjust my writing style to match its flex. Also, very impressive photo.

A 1950s advertisement from Watermanβs for a line of fountain pens.
After a lot of searching I found the original ad for this line of fountain pens

A burgundy pen with a silver cap over a piece of paper that says, βZac, thank you so much! - Johnβ
The same pen but on a dark teal notebook thatβs on a table. The table has a small vase with magenta carnations and babyβs breath. thereβs also a coffee cup with a lid that says Cafe Deko on it.
I love this story of rebellion and finding what you love! I have a vintage Watermanβs Lady Corinth that I adore carrying daily and this is my inspiration to get more.

You can use Sailorβs standard fountain pen converter on the Fude de Manen, it works great on mine.

Makes sense, Iβm more annoyed at the accounts existing than getting in the feed.

I would absolutely love it if those garbaccounts (garbage accounts) stopped putting Amzn links in the fountain pen feed. There are plenty of stationery stores to purchase from with excellent shipping

Excellently detailed suggestion! Only other thing Iβd add is make sure the feed is fully seated in the pen but I canβt remember how easy/hard it is to pull the feed out

A TWSBI Eco is a good option and I loved my Vac model with the stub, a solid distribution of ink every time. Opus makes a nice 1.5 nib but mine tends to run drier through the feed.

I didnβt realize, we love Jacques Herbin! Itβs my go to as a safe ink for all my non-vintage pens. Their scented inks are surprisingly nice.

Congrats on the new gear! I love my Wren for travel and I had the exact same TWSBI that I miss terribly (I over tightened it after cleaning). What kind of ink is that?

Both had their ink sacs replaced but the unbranded is going to need some more tlc. I think after gentle cleaning and polishing itβll look much better. Both inked with Waterman Mysterious Blue as itβs a safe choice and best for daily professional writing.

Two fountain pens capped on an off white notebook.
Two fountain pens uncapped with the nibs on display over their caps sitting over an off white notebook.
First two vintage fountain pens purchased! The smaller in front is a dark red Watermanβs Lady Corinth with a flex nib and behind is an unbranded burgundy pen with Sidney L. Smith on the body.

Yuck, I hear you. I felt the same way about some paper too, like itβs thin but you assume itβs fountain pen ready. But then it isnβt. Hope you find a good use for it! Also a lovely color ink

Sure! And I agree that price points on some of them pens feel ridiculous, especially when most companies use the same nibs so it feels like youβre just paying for the barrel and cap. I hope you find a couple of pens you love!!

The greatest thing she ever said to me was in 1943 after the opening of Oklahoma!, when I suddenly had unexpected, flamboyant success for a work I thought was only fairly good, after years of neglect for work I thought was fine. I was bewildered and worried that my entire scale of values was untrustworthy. I talked to Martha. I remember the conversation well. It was in a Schrafft's restaurant over a soda. I confessed that I had a burning desire to be excellent, but no faith that I could be.
Martha said to me, very quietly: "There is a vitality, a life force, an energy, a quickening that is translated through you into action, and because there is only one of you in all of time, this expression is unique. And if you block it, it will never exist through any other medium and it will be lost. The world will not have it. It is not your business to determine how good it is nor how valuable nor how it compares with other expressions. It is your business to keep it yours clearly and directly, to keep the channel open. You do not even have to believe in yourself or your work. You have to keep yourself open and aware to the urges that motivate you. Keep the channel open. As for you, Agnes, you have so far used about one-third of your talent."
As told by the late dancer and choreographer Agnes DeMille.

Vintage watercolor painting of a snowy Connemara landscape at Winter Solstice, full bleed, no border. Deep indigo night sky with stars and a crescent moon over the Twelve Bens mountains. A thatched cottage with warm amber windows, dry stone walls, sheep, and a robin in the foreground. Elegant fountain pen text overlaid directly on the sky reads: "Grianstad an Gheimhridh sona daoibh, a chairde!" with a line below in small italics: "Happy Winter Solstice to you all, friends!". Text overlaid on the white snow at the bottom reads: "Go raibh teas i bhur gcroΓ is solas i bhur laethanta." with a line below in small italics: "May there be heat in your hearts and light in your days."
