At the stage of winter during which I just ignore the weather because I'm done.

The particularized ways of doing day-to-day things. Families arguing about things that for others would be matters of taste. (Am one).

Totally a compliment. In my hierarchy of needs being glad to go home is of prime importance. Like, I never wanted to go home or the part of Canada I was born at and that feeling never left. Cooking is emotional labour but it is more easily replaced.

Me too. I begged for it. Shamelessly. At a public health clinic in a middle school gym. Two weeks later I was exposed in an Emergency waiting room according to the public health nurse who called me.

These actions were calculated to ensure than offsprings' exposure to outside influences were minimized if not thwarted.

A lot of conservative parents doubled down on these in the 80s and 90s. Along with having to stand up and use in the noisiest and noisiest room in the house.

Major employers and people attractors in "downtown" are universities and they will only be moved over dead bodies.

I will never pathologist the wanting to hold on to written works. This moment shall pass and none too soon.

Book shaming actually. She has 4K+ Penguins, beautifully arranged and curated. Her grown kids (who have benefited from her attending to their educations and living in the presence of her superb taste) shame her constantly joking about "the dumpster(s)" they will need on her demise.

Things like this can always be fixed. If our society can accommodate the flood of corrugated cardboard from Amazon, we can absorb book waste or rather, cycling. Funny, Amazon started as book seller. Recently was visting a retired English prof friend who, I discovered, suffering from book shame.

The concept is not bad in abstraction but interpretation and implementation. Apparently it's the glue. But there is glue in corrugated cardboard and they take it gleefully. Somebody in muni affairs in ON the major market was a poor negotiator and now we're stuck with books being stigmatized.

Have old books? They're no longer accepted in curbside recycling under new extended producer responsibility rules. Donate them to a local charity (check first), to a community library box, or share them with friend. As a last resort, they go in the garbage. Learn more at: halifax.ca/recycling

Can we talk about the dental industry Halifax? Feels to me like they see mouths as places to mine for money. By contrast my longtime dentist in TO just did a complex filling w spiffy new materials for " professional challenge" whereas practice here wanted to watch and wait (until more lucrative?).

Current location is nice and sheltered from wind tunnels. Now I will have to walk along Robie and cross it twice back and forth to get there. It helped support my morals in that it enabled my avoiding Westons who truly do suck. I can see the lure of the hemmed in foot traffic for the enterprise tho.

I think this is cool. Sadly, I know quite a few earlier career people who will lose their jobs or businesses if they don't go to the States on business.

Hey Canadians, if you followed storm chaser Mark Robinson from the Weather Network on the bad place, he's here too. He doesn't post much, but maybe we can get him to if we flood him with follows! @stormhunter.bsky.social
