I still have not touched the extra bonus bosses in OT2 by the way, I heard stories and that shit SCARES me

ngl I’d rather spend hours grinding to beat Stephen in SMTIV:A then deal with the OT2 bonus stuff

On one hand, hooray, I don’t have to cry about this for a week (it took me 6 irl days to beat the OT2 superboss)???

But also is it really an Octopath game if you aren’t sitting at the edge of your seat, screaming at Galdera to just die already like 2 hours into the fight

So took a quick break from work and tried the Octopath 0 superboss to get a feel for gimmicks and attacks and somehow got it down to 1/3 health blind and w/o a prepped team 😐

Yeah people were not kidding that this is the easiest superboss in the series

Either way game is a solid 8-8.5/10 for me, I'd rank the OT games 2 > 0 > 1 at the moment.

Sorry for the big OT0 posts, I love the series and have barely anyone I can talk about it with so I have to settle with screaming into the void instead.

And the gameplay was SO FUN, and the bosses had some pretty nasty moves this time around too. My only complaint is that the back row mechanic kind of breaks difficulty in half and the final bosses have too little HP

GOD FORBID you recruit Reime and she just OHKO's the boss's first form 😭

In particular I really like Laurana's and Elrica's stories. And, while it was a bit sloppy and confusing at times, Sazantos and his whole character arc was definitely favorite too – even if he's just a "Sephiroth at home" at the end of the day-

It definitely has to do with the mobile game origins forcing the story to be as bombastic as possible since there can be months between chapters.

Even then, most tropes are handeled decently imo? There are exceptions (Alaune w/ Tatloch, Rinyuu's... everything), but things hit more often than not.

Overall opinion of OT0: I get all the complaints, but I still had so much fun with the game.

Because it's actually a cohesive narrative this time, it by default has one of the better stories in the series, but it definitely is melodramatic and tropey at times, especially the Master story arcs.

If you're wondering what the Octopath 0 experience is like, I just failed a 70% 4 times in a row and it was all just for a tidbit about the personality of a random NPC in an early game town.

So basically the game is just as amazing as the others
