We have a middle class because we had a progressive tax system that allowed the middle class to come into existence. The GOP did away with the progressive tax system incrementally since Reagan & the middle class has been losing buying power & their voice in govt since then.

If you have a paid off house that sells for $500,000 for a couple....that's all tax free money to invest. For a single you get $250,000 tax free money to invest. Capital gains is 20% on the other $250,000.
