The only exception to my American book buying ban. We'll miss you, Andrea Gibson. π₯Ήπ
#ElbowsUp and #ShopLocal sentiment the last few months? Doing a more thorough look post-purchase/after I realized I'd been scammed, all the company's socials were created in March right around the US tariff scare first coming about @cbcnews-rss.bsky.social
@globalnews.ca @ctvnews-rss.bsky.social
Reached out for a refund and surprisingly heard back from the company, though the excuses they gave were pretty thin. Am curious if any Vancouver news outlets have heard similar consumer complaints about Maria Sofia Vancouver or other overseas ventures seemingly trying to take advantage of
Received my order, and product was absolutely garbage. Was expecting cotton linen blend print dresses, and instead received polyester dresses with pixelated prints, no tag to indicate brand, and no tag to indicate fabric makeup or washing instructions. Shipped from....China, not Vancouver.
I got sucked into an Instagram purchase recently from an overseas company posing as a local Vancouver clothing boutique. At the time they claimed to be in the "final hours of their closing sale!"...except these "final hours of their closing sale" have been going on for over a month now.
and volunteer work surrounding mental health and neurodiversity since high-school but it's only been in the past few years where I've been able to be part of substantial, tangible changes in professional environments, and it is so freaking exciting!
in so many instances, and it's been a really positive experience. I realize that is not the case for everyone but I'm hoping I can continue to learn and continue to carve out space for ND people in the work that I do to be their unmasked selves and embrace ND strengths. I've been doing advocacy
It brings me immense joy that people I encounter in professional scenarios feel comfortable enough to chat with me about their neurodivergence π₯Ή I've been learning so much since I was diagnosed with ADHD in November about how my ND has actually been an asset in my professional life
Don't sleep on North of North yallllllll!
as a non-Catholic who has never before cared about a pope, I am heartbroken to hear about the passing of Pope Francis, who used his statement at Easter mass to once again call for a ceasefire in Gaza
love and acceptance. Pope Francis is about the closest I've gotten to an intersection of my personal beliefs with any messaging from the Catholic Church. He held a very powerful position and did more good with it than most have previously. I hope the next Pope follows suit.
I am sorry to hear of the passing of Pope Francis. I group up alongside the Catholic Church, have Catholic godparents, and have family members who are very active in it, but have actively opposed much of the doctrine that has been previously preached that conflicts with my personal beliefs of
You cannot question things. It does not matter if the question is genuine, if you are correcting a simple error, if you are asking for their benefit, if it is a man or a woman asking - if you do not blindly celebrate, you get dog piled.
Even just clarifying questions like "What is the source for this statistic?" Or "Could you tell me more? I'm not familiar" typically led to profile suspension (of me) and immediate bullying (of me)
I joined some Conservative Facebook groups in part to troll, and in part to genuinely try and meet my fellow Canadians where they are at and find some common ground, and it was far scarier than I anticipated.
Every time I talk to fellow moms they're just...downtrodden. Like straight up on the brink of mental collapse from doing everything at home, everything at work, everything in their community, everything for their kids, while their male partners offer nothing and ask for lists. Why do they not care??
Thank you!

Boycotting the grocery store until they start buying an equivalent volume of groceries from me
Chronic illness woe: insurance moves at the speed of slow. Guess how many of the newer migraine meds are covered? (Not enough of them)
This is what I did today π I haven't felt this much unburdened joy and calm while making art since high-school. When I feel the urge to doomscroll I doodle instead and put on a podcast or Drag Race
We are only three months into the Trump regime.
We need to speak up. This is happening on our watch.
My partner is quite literally the neurotypical eye of the storm of human tornadoes - his best friend has diagnosed adhd, I have diagnosed adhd, and my kiddo is painfully like young-me-with-undiagnosed-adhd. Patience of a saint π
This is your daily reminder to buy Canadian, participate in local mutual aid, and vote anything but Conservative like your life and rights depend on it, because honestly we're at that point. Elbows up π¨π¦π¨π¦π¨π¦
Forcing big unethical grocers like Galen Weston to heavily discount American products and lose profits there, even in a limited sense, is also wildly satisfying
If those of us who can afford to can keep buying Canadian and help keep Canadian businesses afloat while also forcing retailers to heavily discount American food items to make food more accessible for those in more dire financial situations, why the hell not?
In my limited window of the world, I think these boycotts of American products is actually working. There's gaps on the shelf in my local grocery store from folks buying up Canadian brands, and they've had to heavily discount American produce in order to get it out of the store.
My newstation tech room friend (you know our friendship is genuine because I have no idea what his actual job title is) was explaining to me what a TV news producer does on the daily, and tbh it sounds like the perfect job for someone with ADHD. We are great at juggling a million ideas with gusto!
