I love fixing a bigger problem but the other complaint from my bosses is iteration time. Apparently I was supposed to volunteer to do more work up front or ask to do more work up front when my boss wants me to deliver faster and make 'better' decisions.
I'm so much under the microscope at work that because I spent time solving a problem around the dev system instead of fixing the dev system ( not part of what was requested of me) my boss is questioning my decision making. I spent maybe an hour on the workaround that's not final product.
A close up of the sidewalk pavement with various sized balls of ice. The biggest probably the same diameter as a quarter.
Hail remnants
Roads are flooded and the sidewalks are covered in hail and I think the rain is done for now.
Getting hailed on in the loop
Here's how you know they're number one -- I have to avoid the two closest bike shops to my house, and another bike shop that gives me a great discount to get to Tailwind, but I still do it because I know they're going to fix my problems.
Gas is expensive and bike commuting is fun! If youβre considering it, buy from your local shop. Itβs not just a bike but also a long term care relationship. I will gladly give you local recommendations (but I struggle with west side, south west locations)
Obvi number 1 is Tailwind in Albany Park
I will help you turn your car commute into a bike commute.
Finding a chill route, fixing your bike up, making your butt not hurt - whatever is holding you back, we can hurdle it.
I love democracy and wished we lived in one!!! unfortunately...
Trans woman are women, even if they win at sports.
Also, whatever the Olympic standards are, most sports aren't that. Most instances of sports should err on the side of inclusion whether or not international competition of that sport does.
" In 2019, it became apparent from the latest research that male advantage isnβt removed by testosterone suppression" is a lie by him. That is not what the research found. The research has consistently found that trans women are on an equal footing if not a disadvantage under the old IOC requirement
Reminder that Raja sucks. Early voting is open now! Go pick someone else, ideally Robin Kelly!
Puppy Perfection
π I love me some lake-based regex
And manatees
These sorts of missiles wouldn't be in silos -- they're not big enough to require it. You also don't want a stationary target for your enemies to bomb so they're probably on mobile launchers.
Like all cook county schools together?
Please sign this petition for proactive inspections of rental properties. Think about the drafty, moldy shitholes youβve rented and how nice it wouldβve been for the city to see the way your landlord lets you live.
Chicago River looking south toward downtown
Lake forever, river for now
I definitely don't know the ins and outs of getting into the lake forever feed.
bsky.app/profile/did:...
View of the sunrise over the lake, and bits of millennium Park.
Lake forever, stock market chaos for now.
The thing I learned from the last time gas was $5 was that I have no idea what the gas prices are going to be in a year, up or down. I'd have guessed they were never going below $4 then.
Gonna double down with a reminder that if you post a screenshot of text from an article you should alt text it & link to the fucking article!!!! If you found it on the internet you should share the link!!! Do not force me to Nancy Drew my way back to the source by triangulating fonts w/news outlets.
Photo of a narrow street blocked by a huge wall of stacked oil barrels
Christo & Jeanne-Claude, "Wall of Oil BarrelsβThe Iron Curtain" (1961β62), an installation of stacked oil barrels that completely blocked the historic rue Visconti, one of the narrowest streets in Paris, and slowed traffic through the city's Left Bank
