“I’ve reviewed over 50 sticky toffee puddings” is an incredibly powerful way to begin a video
Tfw you still have some edge cases to fix in your procedural locomotion system #gamedev
He dances in a way I have only seen horses dance. He possesses a power and majesty we will never know.
Good morning, here’s a little photo collage of details taken from a variety of my embroideries for you today. Hope it’s the pop of colour you may need… 😉🪡🌿🌺 #stitchedart #embroideryartist #thesewingsongbird
A split screen: on the left is a crested Roman helmet in the foreground with a tunic of scale armour (lorica squamata) in the background. On the right is a close up of the tunic and the scales are practically indistinguishable from the scales of a pangolin (but there again we're on our third coffee).
We're marking World Pangolin Day by remembering that Roman soldiers would routinely dress as pangolins before going into battle.
Shit I didn't include the link. Maybe you shouldn't trust me. Draw your horse here:

If you watch old interviews of Jim Henson, you realize that Kermit and Ernie have something close to his natural speaking voice. It really is Henson's voice that I miss.
A screenshot of Lala and Po from the teletubbies. The screenshot is clearly taken from someone's phone, as the borders of the tv can be seen, as well as glimpses into the apartment behind them. Po is in bed wrapped up in a blanket. The text below them reads "I know you were high at my mother-in-laws funeral..."
More screenshots from the Teletubbies. Lala seems to be upset with a terrified Po. the text below reads "Did you kill the dog? Why would you do that?!"
A third screenshot from the Teletubbies, this time the same scene as before. Po is wearing an apron while Lala seems to still be upset at him. The text below reads "You're nothing but a failure of a man."
In the 2010s, the Icelandic tv station Channel 2 accidentally added subtitles from a gritty crime drama to an episode of Teletubbies.
I have translated some of the highlights
Italian voice actor Carlo Bononi was the voice of all of the characters on Pingu. A trained clown by trade, he used a theater technique called grammelot, which consists of "speaking" in a mix of babbled gibberish noises. He improvised all the voices live and unscripted.
Photograph from 1911 taken by Herbert Ponting whilst with Scott's Antarctic Expedition The monochrome photo is taken from within a cave. The walls of the cave are made of ice. The cave entrance is in the mid distance with two figures standing looking out towards a distant ship. Between them and the ship there is first a 'beach' of ice before the sea itself. The ship could be up to 800 metres away What makes the photo so special is that where the figures are at the cave entrance there is a band of very white snow and ice (contrasting with the comparatively dark inside of the cave) that creates a stark framework in which the men and the ship are captured. It is made even more dramatic by the fact that the cave entrance is at least 30 metres high and is in the shape of a distorted elipse with the tail sloping off to the right at the top of the elipse The photo being in monochrome in a largely white environment makes the photographers skill all the more laudable
This photo was taken in 1911 using glass plate technology by Herbert Ponting who was part of Scott's Antarctic expedition,
The composition and detail are exquisite with the band of white snow/ice creating a perfect frame around the two people and the ship in the distance
Iconic imo
England's First Bespectacled Scholar?
This gargoyle on Great Ponton's church tower (1519) may be one of the earliest representations of spectacles in English sculpture. Our scholarly figure peers through his glasses while holding pen and parchment - perhaps immortalising a real person.

Here is a video of a frozen creek that had begun to thaw, and the water was flowing beneath the thin ice on top. I took this because it was soothing and wonderfully bloopy and I wanted to listen to it for hours. You are all welcome to enjoy it, too. Let your brain settle here and rest for a moment.
Oh this is good. This is very good.
Best TikTok thing going is the two dudes trying food from every country without leaving NYC. If you haven’t seen them yet, it’s incredible. My favorite so far is last week’s. Legit got me emotional.
A forlorn landscape of layered rocks in the foreground, with hills fading into the background haze. At upper top right, a small crescent moon, and a bright star.
Open up this picture fully.
Then look at the surface of Mars.
Then look up to the top right.
Spot Mars' moon Phobos high in the sky.
Then notice the bright spot beside Phobos.
That's Earth.
another robot highlight for 2025: man wearing humanoid mocap suit kicks himself in the balls
Black sandbanks in rippled patterns seen from above, with some blueish water at the bottom and lighter water with a touch of sunset colour above.
Grey sandbanks seen from directly above, with green/blue water surrounding them and some ripples visible.
A bend in a river with sandbanks either side, some ripples visible. The sand looks grey/black and the water green/blue, lighter at the top.
A wider view of a loch with black sandbanks silhouetted in the foreground, dark mountains in the distance, and post-sunset orange skies reflected in part of the loch.
More sandbanks at low tide seen from a drone - this time over the Kyle of Tongue.

i post this story every christmas, and will keep doing so until it stops making me cry
merry christmas xx
on the tramway in Nantes and a pretty old woman gave her seat to a very old woman so I gave my seat to the pretty old woman then a man gave me his seat then a teenager gave a man his seat and then we all laughed, aren't people fantastic
If you have a friend who lives alone and clearly enjoys her own company, can you not keep asking her who she’s spending Christmas with? There’s this weird thing where some people can’t conceive of Christmas alone and I have to do a lot of emotional lifting to explain that IT’S WHAT I WANT.
I'm sharing this here, as I have on Facebook and Instagram, but there's no account on here to share from, and I just think this is wonderful.
A really good balance of design and implementation, and appears to achieve everything it set out to do, and it *SO* appeals to my inner 'work nerd'.
Absolutely nobody asked for this BUT
English Anglican cathedrals that have burned down, fallen over, and sank into the swamp: a thread.
Don't steal pies this Christmas.
A British-themed mural including many random symbols. Details to follow…
Sexy Elizabeth I, kind of. A redhead babe with ruff and crown. Her earring is a medal, possibly a Victoria cross. There’s a pigeon on her head.
Winston Churchill, statuefied. There is a pigeon on his head. Also a cigar. And a coin with the image of George VI.
A Spitfire doing a flypast. It is piloted by a statue of the comte de Rochambeau. The letters on the side of the plane are DNG, but with the Spitfire target markings these seem to spell DONG.
Adore the British-themed mural in my hotel in Valletta, including: yassified Virgin Queen, Churchill with pigeon, and for some reason General Rochambeau (not very British? like really pointedly not? did they think he was Nelson? wrong number of arms for a start) in a Spitfire that says “dong” on it

Dick Van Dyke is 100 years old tomorrow.
I hope he's making the most of his finally night of Lego building.
Will Arnett was on Conan and told a story about how Conan dealt with the death of his parents by accusing Jason Bateman of killing them. It’s so funny.
